I tend to use the logic “get as many channels as you can afford” – and if you buy into that logic, then having access to 4 is better than access to 2. With any used gear it’s important to make sure it’s in good shape and you’re buying from a verified source. But from what you’ve described, a used SX in good shape will be far more valuable to you than a new SR. I just looked quickly at the two you linked to, but my first thought was that $699 seems a little high… Haven’t really priced them out though.

For an SX if you can get a deal you can get a new one (version 1) for 699 or less. The SX2 is still at around 899 street price.
Used is AT LEAST 30% less than street price if it is in MINT condition. Else 50% off.

Having said that, if you can afford buy the better gear and grow into it. It will save you time to sell old gear and upgrade.

I haven’t seen anywhere that sells them for that cheap. All new ones I have seen on amazon eBay or guitar center have been around 1000 or more, and used ranging from 500-900 depending on the place and condition…

Only exception being this website which I’ve never heard of. Have any of you…? Seems a little sketchy because I can’t find anything about it on google.

There were a few at guitar center for 650-699 that are in decent used condition that I could look at. I’ll ship one or two to my local store so I can try them out and look at the wear and tear. Any other comments?

Am I correct in sayin that I don’t need one with serato with it because I can download the full version for free? It doesn’t een one with an activation code or anything it automatically becomes active and the full version when I plug in an SX?

    Thanks

I am guessing Terry was using Euros versus your dollars. That would explain the price difference or thereabouts.

If I remember correctly you can just download it and then get it working in full version by starting it up with a supported controller attached.

The differences between the SX and SX2 aren’t all that spectacular. Support for Serato Flip, DVS support and RGB performance pads. So only if any or all of these are important to you is it worth getting the more expensive one. You could better save that money and invest it in a small PA mixer, like the Yamaha MG06 (3rd gen) to which you hook up both controllers. I’d personally take that option over having the second controller go through one of your controllers channels.

    That is just me though.

Yes sorry that was in Euros.
