ModeratorI might not be the most unbiased guy to ask (a long time Denon user and fan). What I can say with some degree of reality is that the MC3000 is the proverbial tank. Built to last a long time on the road. And personally I can’t imagine NOT having jogwheels. You can take away most buttons, knobs and even faders, but don’t take away my jogs.
DJ-ing isn’t called “spinning” for nothing :-p.
As far as software goes, I invite you to have a closer look at Cross DJ from MixVibes. It has native support for BOTH the Twitch and the MC3000 and is pretty intuitive. Not sure if it would fit your workflow, but at it’s price level definitely worth chekcing out.
Good luck & greetinx,
Chuck

ParticipantThanks Chuck, that was one of the 2 main problems…And I agree with you, jogs are a good deal of DJing!
Terry, that’s why i decided to give these 2 controllers a chance, since i heard of the update MC6000 I knew there would have been a price drop on the old controllers and since I can get the Denon for less than 300 euros… well I’d say it’s a really good discount ahah!
Plus, I couldn’t effort the new one, my max budget is 300€ and the denon seems to fit it with the most I can get from a controller of this price-range!

ParticipantI’m a bit biased myself, I love the Novation Twitch.
The touch strips are super easy to get used to, have more advanced features than a job wheel and give more of a “Touching the music” feel than any “tiny-sized record representation” jog wheel. Jog wheels cannot give you “Needle Search” instant drop anywhere on the song nor can it give you the ability to control loop length by simply pinching or expanding two points on it (which the touch strip can).
So while we’re at it, this is what Novation decided to do with the Twitch in that otherwise wasted space that would have been the Jog Wheel… they created 4 banks of 8 buttons (4 wide x 2 high, that’s 32 buttons per deck) which are Bi-color LED lit. So… You can control 8 hot cues, 8 auto loops, 8 effect on/off triggers, and 8 slicer mode slots and 8 loop rolls (by default) or turn on the SP-6 Sampler for Serato DJ… For Traktor, it’s slightly different, there is no Slicer mode and the sample decks are replaced with Remix Decks (or two more track decks… or off if you want).
The Twitch is one of the very few controllers with an official Traktor overlay and when you use Traktor Pro, you can control up to 4 decks (in Serato DJ there are only 2 decks).
Almost any way you slice it, the Twitch is a better controller (feature-for-feature) but ultimately, buying a controller comes down to your needs and what you want to do with it.

ModeratorHey Forced Hand!
I’d say you are more than a bit biased :D.
Seriously though, this forum has a lot of room for opinions, but it comes with one important rule: we respect what others have/do/like and don’t claim for anything being “the best this or that” at the expense of whatever else is out there. So, better to state that you like something better than other things, rather than making a hard statement that (in this case) the Twitch is a better controller (than anything else out there).
I love your enthusiasm for the Twitch and by all means keep sharing your enthusiasm and the reasons why you are so enthusiastic. We love to hear from each and everyone of you and the reason you use the gear you use, the software you use, the reasons you switched, etx. And your enthusiasm can surely trigger someone else to consider what you like as a possible choice for themselves and that enriches our experiences on this forum.
Flat-out stating that the Twitch (using it as an example) is the best controller, can lead to lengthy discussion on the validity of that statement. And that is just the kind of discussion we don’t want on here.
Frankly, I could easily disagree with your statement. I don’t like workspace cluttering led-lit buttons (let alone 32 of them) that I won’t use, touchstrips that don’t give tactile (and often visual) feedback and I have yet to meet someone in real life that was able to do a decent scratch on a touch surface (Twitch, iPad, whatever). Just to name a few reasons why, for me!, your statement doesn’t hold true.
You said it yourself in your closing words, buying a controller is a highly personal matter and therefor there is no best and no worst controller out there (it’s also the reason Phil’s buyers guide will rate controllers based on available features, build quality and such, but it does not have a best buy or number one ranking).
Please stay firm in your believe that for you the Twitch is indeed the best controller out there and I wish you many years of happy and succesful use.
Greetinx and keep posting!
