Hats are important. I actually wear that hat my doggy avatar has 😉

To each its own hat! If it’s this important, i will make it to an essential part of my setup!

I tried syncing maschine and traktor on windows, but the midi clock/bpms were all over the place. So I bought the download of OS.X (15€, was worth every penny) and installed it with trickery on my old dell XPS1530. Since then trough the internal IAC Midi-Port, my Midi Clock for syncing has been rock stable. I’m saving up for a used Mac book, tough. I get the feeling that my Dell will fall apart soon … :/

Thank you very much 🙂 i will keep it up for sure! Regarding the mixing of genres, I choose one main theme/genre of the mix, slipping in some single tracks that are going well with the main theme. For example, i think this (click this 😉 ) trance track works rather well in within a bunch of deep house tracks. You could check out my Youtube below, too. Although there are genre-specific mixes; me trying out dub step/genres i haven’t mixed before.

@clockwise checking out your accout on yt right now and I really like what I’m hearing. You can easy find yourself in many genres as I can see, it’s impressive.

Thank you very for the compliment 🙂

Yeah, i try to mix everything i like. Which is a lot – Next on the list will be Drum and Bass (i think 😉 )

To learn mixing a genre i haven’t mixed before, i have the following approach:

When i find a new genre i want to try (and haven’t got enough tracks) i go on digging till i have approximately the number of tracks for about an hour. And then, with that relatively limited number of songs to choose from, i try to make a whole set. I listen to every track and try to find a suitable mix for it. Doing it this way, i have to go trough every one of the new tracks and “analyze” them to make a fluent set in the end. Helps learning the tracks 😉 Of course, if i play out i have more choices. But when i’m recording a mix i try to only do it with the new tracks.

Yeah, systems failure is on top of my list of fears, too. I’m so glad about TraktorDJ on iPad – this and a splitter cable and you’re good to go!

Regarding the nervousness – i’m always nervous as hell. But i played 4 years as an actor at a theater, this helped a ton with nervousness in front of an audience. And little bit is great to keep your brain active – if you’re not nervous you’re doing something wrong 😉
