ParticipantSo, here’s my update on the gig 🙂
I arrived at the destination where a friend of mine (the barkeeper) picked me up. I was already way to nervous – we stayed a bit at his home before going to the club and i literally felt physically ill – damn you, nerves..
We arrived at the club where i was told i would play outside because of the incredible heat (40°C at 18:00) and nobody was in the interior. So we built a makeshift djbooth out of wooden bar stools. Here’s a (bad angle) picture of it :
So I started playing (19:00) , hands shaking and incredibly thirsty 😉 I divided my playtime into miniature sets with respectively about double the tunes i needed. I started with nice some nice 90 bpm chill out tunes with lots of, ehm, chilly melodies. Was working to the 150-120 bpm as the majority of the quests came in (~20:00). Then I began to bring in my deep house tracks / set. My mix was not genre specific, i tried to fit in fitting electro/tech-house and even some trance, too. I played like this till ~ 22:15. At this time i took this photo:
I moved on to groovy tech house until the and at 23:20. Then i had to turn out the music because because of the nighttime peace and the possibility of the police coming due to complaints from the neighbors. I packed my gear and went inside to talk with the club owner.
He was quite pleased and asked me when i had time to come again 🙂 He is planning to make this night a regular event (Sunset Dream every Friday) with changing djs, me on board 🙂 He suggested i could come on an evening when there are more people which are willing to dance on so i could bring out my non-chill out tracks 😉 We talked on till the location closed and nobody was here anymore, was about 1:30.
I’m “quite” happy how it turned out in spite of my fears and nervousness, I’m really looking forward to the next gig. But i continue to chase other opportunities to spin (like a big birthday in august on which i’m invited)
There are a few photos more, taken from a friend of mine. I will put them here when they arrive. Thank you all for reading 🙂 If you have questions, ask away!
