If you intend to use it for the storage of Music files (Mp3 & WAV) double the capacity.

I have 3 hard drives = 2.5TB i have 6000 songs ripped from Vinyl and stored as both WAV and Mp3 and songs purchased as WAVs are then converted to Mp3s and i just moved 25GB of WAVs onto double capacity disks also two of the external HD are used as backups and i am thinking of purchasing another 2TB HD so that i can then make another backup and store in another location. (Honest I’m not paranoid)

    Suggest read the reviews

It seems standard to have 7200 RPM read more about RPM below

It depends on your current collection and how often you get new music but really 320Gb is a small HD for most DJs. I have 1T?b and 2Tb ext HD’s for my collection and I’m about to upgrade my Laptop HDs to a 1Tb. for potabilty I use 64Gb USB stick

I use a 500gb aData SH93 external drive for storage and it’s nowhere near full. They do a usb 3 flavour of that drive, different designation though. I never DJ off my external, that simply mirrors my internal had and is for back up only. Every DJ I know with large capacity external drives that they filled never has a clue what’s on them 🙂

    Thanks for your replies..

Well, my laptop has an 240GB SSD, But to be fair I’ve always liked to keep my machine clean and free as possible. Now, I don’t aim to put my whole music collection on the external. Hell I don’t think my Hardstyle collection even amounts to 200GB. I’d just like a central location where my music can be hooked up and managed and take it where I go.

I went with the USB 3 version of that drive, The HD710 🙂

If you have a good internet subscription try using an online cloud service. I just got mine and it works out to 120 a year for unlimited data storage, on unlimited computers. For a single comp its only like 50 a month…now it does take a while to do it…but then you can just sync the folders u want backed up.

This isnt an endorsement of any kind…just passing on stuff that i find is useful to all of us :D/

I have used a Lacie Rugged 500mb for over a year, with back up on another Lacie…have to say it is rugged and never let me down, and the design is second to none, stays cool even during 12 hour sessions!!
