We just finished up our group page. The long term goal of the DanceKraft collective would be to pour over into U St & Adams Morgan, ideally turning our monthly event into a weekly one at multiple locations. If you’re in the area, feel free to like the page and send an email to discipleofnietzsche@gmail.com if you are looking to get involved in the project. I was very satisfied with the DJs that this site has exposed me to thus far; in the last event I saw more skill behind decks than I’ve seen in most clubs around here.

MemberIn stead of just emailing you I’m clearing the schedule to be in the house on the 30th. Anything you need me to bring besides as many extra bodies as I can…?

ParticipantSounds great man, look forward to speaking with you there. If you’ve any lighting units you could bring out, there’s no such thing as too many lights =D (we’ve got a few micro galaxians, a color strip, an aggressor and an eclipse, but it can always been taken 1 step further) that’d be cool, otherwise bodies will do nicely. Also, it’s a BYOB and there’s a pretty cheap beer/liquor store right around the corner…..the venue I work with isn’t a bar or club so technically we can’t profit off of alcohol sales.

I call any gig a success where I don’t accidentally press pause on the deck that’s playing out through the master 😉

Cool, I have a mini aggressor and a tri gem led from ADJ & a mini hurricane fogger with 2 T trusses…

ParticipantAh nice, I have an aggressor myself, having 1 on each side of the stage would be pretty awesome. Last show we ran with a colorstrip, an aggressor, an eclipse, 2 micro galaxians, and I couldn’t tell you the fogger brand. I might be able to get my hands on 2 cubix 2.0s and 2 swarms as well for the next show, would be fun

MemberWhats up guys ? been following this thread since the very start and i love where its going.
I am more of a hip-hop r&b urban dj myself but looking to network and learn a little more about EDM
so count me in. Nothing like a few drinks, good music and fellowship. I live in Silver springs about 5 min from the venue
so if you need anything just ask.March 8, 2013 at 4:55 pm #37761NietzSKY
ParticipantWe could definitely incorporate some DnB hip-hop / glitch hop into our shows without problem, send an email my way after this event and we’ll see if we can’t get you out with us.
https://www.facebook.com/thisisdancekraft this is the DanceKraft team page. I’ve gotten a good 12-13 responses total for people looking to play, and we’re currently working on having a diverse lineup and hosting multiple events a month in order to accommodate all of the djs. I’m actually leaving DC in a month or so to work my ass off in OC Maryland, I plan on coming back with at least a 2-3 grand light setup and some DMX, so we can really take our shows to the net level/ start DanceKraft as a legitimate collective business. We’ll see how my plan goes this summer, god knows I’ll be dropping 1.5k the day the NS7 2 comes out (probably a little more considering I’m going to overnight it XD)

ParticipantI’ve been getting more emails as of late from local djs/ ddjt guys looking to help out / spin, it’s great. Also, through our events / networking, Daryl got himself a show the 18th of March, I’ll be playing a festival late june and I’ve got some lighting work, and I’ve received a few sound/spinning offers from Bmore. We’ve got 7 acts confirmed for the 30th show, in addition to some extra lighting & bodies. Always looking to help others in the dj community, and DDJT has yet to disappoint me with caliber of djs. I’ve no hate for laptop djs (seeing as how after my transition from vinyl I haven’t looked back yet), but there’s so many wankers giving us a bad name syncing/ screen-locking. It’s great that we’ve an event showcasing digital skill and fresh new talent. Getting this message in my facebook inbox tonight made it all worth it;
”Will you be doing one more danceKraft or will March be your last before you leave ?
I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or bad thing that DanceKraft is one of my top venues since I moved here.”
(He’s referring to the fact that I’ll be heading down to Ocean City Maryland in mid-April to work crazy hours so I can come back with a nasty light setup and my own sound to to expand the potential bookings for DanceKraft). Again, even though I will be heading out, DanceKraft will still be continuing monthly, and I’ll still be doing behind-the-scenes booking. I plan on coming down for at least 2 shows during the summer to play, and perhaps another just to mingle in the audience.
-Even if you doubt your skills or are just starting out, feel free to contact myself/ Daryl to express your interest. We’re always looking for assistance in promotion, and I personally don’t mind having jam sessions over my house/answering any digital dj questions so we can get you an opening slot/ hone your skills when it comes to DJing. Your presence on the forums alone shows me this is an art for you, and you’re about the music as opposed to being a center of attention. Keep in touch.

P.S.- Next set sounds like it’s going to be a little more gabber than hardstyle this time. You do PLUR? I blast evil and play with anger >;)

ParticipantAlright, emergency updates; due to a family emergency, one of our DJs can’t make it out on Saturday. If you want the slot, email discipleofnietzsche@gmail.com .

ParticipantSpot filled, that was fast. Seems a few are actually following the thread =D. No sweat if you didn’t get it, we’ve a show coming up every month and I’m always looking for new faces to be a part. After tomorrow (hoping it’ll make successful show number 2) we’ll start to have a little credibility under our belts, and can start branching out. Ideally, I would like this event to happen weekly at different locations in the DC metro area, and would be able to book the DDJT community of DC/MD/VA a monthly spot at one of the locations.
Also, shameless self-bump; https://www.facebook.com/events/137228503123054/?fref=ts
You should totally like my mix, it’s like comment 33 or 34 in the pinned post. Looking to play out/do some networking in Baltimore, seems like a decent enough in =D

ParticipantAwesome show, and we were able to bring in more for the Maid this event. The project is still in infancy, but tonight, my lights + the setup chucklez brought created such a great vibe. I want to thank all the djs who came out, and we’re going to see when the next available date to have Dancekraft 3 will be.

ParticipantBeen a few weeks since an update, everything is still alive and well.
1) DanceKraft’s April show will be a test run at a new venue, The Looking Glass in Petworth (The Electric Maid is still definitely on board with us, and we’ll be having DanceKraft 4 on Friday, May 31st). If things go over well here, we’ll be able to ideally start hosting bi-monthly shows and bring even more djs an opportunity to play out in the nation’s capital. Will provide another report-back at the end of the month to tell whether we’ve experienced more growth, and potential plans for the future involving a potential gig-trading system with non-local djs. Keep in touch.
