Pretty simple actually by the look of it.

One setup is fully analogue, i.e. regular CDJ’s and a DJM900. The players are linked, but that is only to share one USB stick and make sync and a few other things work. The output from the laptop is routed into a channel on the DJM900. I think the only thing hooked up to the laptop is the SX. So there is nothing fancy going on. And yes, you could do this with a Hercules controller if you wanted to.

So essentially the SX is operating as a normal controller for serato on the laptop and then whatever mix is going on the master output is being plugged into one channel on the CDJ setup so he can add FX? or mix a song with the mix thats already playing out of the SX?

Would I need a controller + an analogue setup to do this? or two digital controllers would work? or only if they had an additional input like the DDJ SR?

    thanks

    Yes on the first bit.

Yes on the second bit, although it could work with two controllers as well, provided you map the controllers to the right decks AND set the sound output options in the software correctly (say you have an SB and an SX, you’d map the SB decks to 3 and 4, the SX decks to 1 and 2 and ALL sound outputs to the corresponding channels on the SX).

Third option works also, you’d run the SB output into one of the two extra channels on the SX (which efficively is your mixer then). Mind you, you’d have to do FX on the SB.

It also depends on if you are using both controllers with their own laptops.
