For me I think that it was 7/10.

I got my Mixtrack Pro 3 months ago and as a beginner DJ I had a lot of trouble at seting all up. Couldn’t get Traktor working for few hours. But when everything was up I started my journey and enjoyed it so much, to sum it at the end it was one of the days that I will remember for a long time coz my dream come true and started to enjoy music even more.

    2/10

Got a original Hercules RMX used. Took me over 45mins to find the guys place who I was buying it off of. Got home and had no time to try it out as I had to head to work. Got home and spent the next 2 hours trying to get it to work right with VDJ, just couldn’t seem to do it. Eventually shelled the money out for traktor (since the guy I bought it off of suggested I do so). Took me about 2 days to get everything working right.

    9/10

It was only a Numark DJ2GO, but it took no setting up and I was mixing in no time. Incredibly fun.

Eventually I added an Akai LPD8 and DJ|io to that setup, then eventually upgraded to the Stanton SCS.1.

Now ask me about the first day with that controller…

9/10 almost exactly a year ago, I got my Mixtrack Pro, and within a month I was rocking house parties with my little hi-fi system. Now I’m on an S4/F1/Maschine.

As for day one, a Mixtrack Pro was so intuitive, that (with the help of sync back then) VDJ was a breeze to get started with. I still break it out on occasion, and just use the S4’s sound card.

4/10, I had my S2 on my kitchen table! Using my apple headphones! Man, what a day 😉

8 out of 10, the controller was really nice but the software crippled (Virtual DJ LE)
Installed the software and drivers, hooked up the gear and was ready to rumble… great.
But since I had so much time time left compared to vinyl and the software was crippled I got a bit bored at first.
After the upgrade to full version it was really fun 🙂

6/10 with the SCS.3. Weird, but pretty fun

Now, with the Launchpad (after a all-nighter MIDI mapping session) probably 9/10. The only hard part is figuring out what i want to map to all those buttons to do

    6/10: Novation Twitch

Been waitin a while to get this one after reading numerous articles about and after Phil’s vid! Not really a plug-n-play machine with its volume sliders but I figured it out after a few mins. Also 1st time using Itch though, I was used to Scratch Live. Made me regret not signin up to Phil’s Digital Dj Training thing he had recently due to lack of quick tutorials .. I know its an overwhelming piece of equipment that needs quite some time getting used to in order for you to use to its full potential.. Awesome hardware tho! Didn’t have problems with low volume either.

Well,Ive been using the free VDJ home with no controller for about a month and loved it,then proceeded to do some research and read your tips etc on controllers for the last 3 weeks. I was down to two controllers to decide on sometimes 3 but i was always drawn to the Denon MC3000, However the Traktor s2 i was looking at 2nd hand for the same priceas the new Denon and this morning i decided to purchase the Denon online for £300 with free headphones and laptop stand, Hope ive made the right choice here tho, im sure i be happy with it and i know it will be a slow learning curve especially if i stick with Traktor le and move onto pro but i like thefacti can use VDJ with this controller too which is what im familiar with so i would prefere to use that, will have to see when it arrives,I should get it by Wednesday and cant wait, Now i need to build up my music collection..I really hope ivemadethe right choice, Its all new to me the digital thing. im from the Vinyl era of DJing back in 89-92 and done nowt since but just lovemy music and mixes…

First day? Supercool! I’ve always dreamed to have something to mix my music straight out from my computer, and then saw that torque expression at a music shop… I spent like all week talking about that at my office, but it was a little expensive, because i was a newbie and did.nt want to spend too much money in something that I may dislike at the end…

I was wrong. A friend of mine told me about a Numark Mixtrack . I did my research, i bought it online. I received it just in time to my cousin’s birthday party so he had an unexpected Dj that night. I have some trouble setting the earphones, the midi interface, but at the end i felt in love with the thing. I’m pretty sure this night i did trainwreck after trainwreck, but I felt like a Dj dream.

I NEVER expected to be that hooked on the little toy, but now is one of my favorite passtimes .Now i use a Traktor Kontrol S4 and i’m  waiting for an Kontrol F1 that just ordered.

4/10, had little mixing experience when i picked up a pioneer ddj-ergo 3 years ago, still remember having nowhere to put it and setting it up on my pool table haha, using a cheap surround sound to play music through.

After 4 years of fooling around with a pc and vdj without a controller, i decided to get a controller. I spend alot of time online searching for a entry controller that fitted my needs(mainly being able to que a track propperly and previewing it with my headphones). I finally picked a controller(With a audiocard,i knew that was important). It was a Digital Jockey 2 from reloop.

I remember that i called the webshop after i bought it. I Told them that i was gonna drive over there( a hour and a half per drive) because is wanted it so bad that i could’nt wait for the mailmen to bring it the next day.

so i drove over to the shop and back. I felt so exited the whole ride. Got home, hooked it up. Started playing with VDJ which worked oke,but i wanted more so i switched to traktor. I had some minor issues with traktor but i have to say it worked amazingly good.

overall i really can say i had a 10/10 for fun that 17th of February 2012. As for mixing…uhhh, yeah lets not grade that.. 😛 But i can tell you i’ve grown alot! im now at a point where friends start to say: How did you mix that smooth? I did’nt hear that at all. So to hear that is amazing.

It was strange.. a cheap controller, Hercules.. It was a gift, so i gave it a try.

3/10 – it was working, but more like a toy, far away from professional gear.

After 1 week it was better, i get used to it and could do some nice stuff, got it working with Traktor Pro.

But i decided to sell it and get something bigger, with more functions and with a better quality.

And the Numark N4 was my choice, even took a 100km ride to the next shop (it was just released and not avaliable in the town). The amazing feeling to have a nice unit sitting in the box right next to you and waiting for the unboxing and the first track playing…. Its still working fine and from the first day it felt right (its still a plastic toy, nowhere near to the materials and quality of a real mixer like Ecler Nuo or Rane), i had no problems so set this up with all possible software (VDJ LE, Serato Intro, Traktor Pro) and just go and spin some music. Even had a gig 2 days after i got it, so i had time to test the stability, but dont get used to the controller.

I had some radio expirience before i got it, so i knew what to do, how to set anything up and all the basic functions.

I still use it without any problems, it survived way more than i expected (and it looks like it take a good beating) and the integrated mixer with XLR master output already saved me & other DJs more than once.

So my second controller was 6/10 with the original software and 9/10 with Traktor Pro.

I think it was sometime in 2005 I got the Hercules Dj Control MK2

    Ride home 10/10

Opening the box at home 10/10

Overall feel for it is 7/10 because it had, even back then, one of the worst placements for a crossfader.  Unless your hands are tiny you will hit either jog wheel every time you transition. the fix for it was easy, disable the jog wheels, center lock the fader and volume crossfade. Alot of trouble i know but it gets a 7/10 because it’s 2013, I still have it and it still works!
