I tried Ableton and still love it to make music, but not for DJing.
It is a totally different workflow (you can google hundreds of youtube videos) and basically you have a trigger based controller (launchpad, midi fighter,…) and trigger songs or parts of songs. If you want to do it right and only trigger parts of songs, you have a lot of time to spend at home to cut songs into parts (basically like remix decks in Traktor).
This was way too much for me and so I got back into using Serato.
Of course you can use a “standard” DJ software like Serato and enhance it with triggers from Ableton or Maschine.
Helluw Terry,
Since we on the subject, i also have a question, mind to elaborate it a little?
I understand that most DJ perform live sets with Ableton they use APC Akai or Novation,
Can you also use Ableton Push to do the same thing as in with APC Akai or Novation ?
I understand Ableton Push is geared more toward producing,
but since most local DJ’s use APC Akai to perform live their sets with their Ableton, I would like to be a little bit different ya know ?
Thats why im opting for the use of Ableton Push rather than the the use of APC Akai…
