I think it’s safe to say you save your bangers for later in the night when you have a full dance floor. I think this 10-12 lull is pretty common for dance clubs & when you tend to play your lower energy tracks, altho’ this doesn’t necessarily mean low BPM. This is when you can slide in some newer tracks, less popular tracks, & older tracks that used to be hot but have lost relevancy. Early in the night is also where I tend to do the majority of mashups, remixes, & DJ tricks.

It’s easy to play early. Avoid big tunes, avoid breakdowns, big vocals, play 2-5bpm slower then you usually would, let people ease themselves in.

Play some nice music to get feet tapping. Playing early in the night is an art. Like warming up for a bigger DJ.

Depends on the alternatives. For example in South America we have Merengue and Reggaeton. So here you can start with bangers at any time, knowing that people will enjoy dancing reggaeton or merengue later. My thoughts are people don’t really know what dancing is until you come to south america. I’ve been in many clubs in aruba, usa and canada, and I never see people dancing, but that is not the point.
Think what people like to listen in your region besides the bangers, and top 40.
But at the same time, EDM is going worldwide, it is know a mainstream, so thousands of tracks are being released by day, each better than the other, it is amazing. So if you’re only playing house I wouldn’t think it would be a problem.
The only issue if having the money to buy that music.
If you don’t have a said alternative type of music:
You said your club gigs are around from 10-2 so that gives you 4 hours of music. If you mix intro/outro with some exceptions that gives you lets say what 15 tracks per hour? That’s 60 songs more or less, I’m positive you must have 60 songs to play within the bangers/top40 genre.
