    It just makes me chuckle how some dumb people consider calling someone gay is an insult, Bro..
    I’ve been chatted up loads of times while out in clubs in Manchester by gay men – even when the wifes been right at my side, i consider it a compliment 😀
    Had some really good & interesting conversations follow on from that ice breaker too, it all counts to having a good night out in my book!
    (for the record i aint no Brad Pitt body double either)

    I Feel that for DJ’ing I will Keep the ‘DJ’;
    But Once I Begin Composing my Own Material; Maybe then I will just go with my Name;
    Or even ‘Make up’ something Different; as I have heard that people use Different Names for Different Genres;

    However; ‘Stereotypes’ …
    Female DJ’s Must have Slept With The Promoter; or This Person; or That Person;
    (I am Obviously a Female DJ too; so I am not Presuming Anybody has Done Anything);

    hello Emma…

    If i were you i would keep your Name… for DJ’ing and producing, i think it is very cool, Emma Partnow… Maybe just change from Partnow to PARTYNOW!!! xD (kidding)

    The name is not the most important in my opinion…

    People assume that all DJ’s use Turntables.
    Some people also only think we only listen to one genre and that we are acctualy (hopefull most of us) are open to tons of genres.

    I don’t know how it is elsewhere. Yet, I found out there’s a regional stereotype here in the States. If you’re a Southerner like me, folks assume you don’t know diddly about New York hip-hop and the history of hip-hop in general. One night I was playing a lot of New York hip-hop and folks swore that’s where I was from. And my Southern drawl is pretty obvious.

    I catch a lot of flack for being a DJ and not being black. Apparently in the eyes of the average racist North Carolina resident all DJs are black drug addicts that drive Cadillacs. I can’t be a real DJ because I’m white and drive a hyundai sonata.
