    I dunno. I’d tell you to skip the pools and just learn good techniques for finding music as well as seeking out good sources to hear new tunes.

    Indeed. Rule of thumb is that you should not add more than 10 songs (which is already too much mostly) per month.
    At 99ct per song buying them on iTunes is still cheaper than any monthly rate of a record pool.

    Two other tips I’d have would be to listen to mixes from DJs you like. Check out mixes that have tracklists. Shop from them. I’d also tell you to set up a playlist on Spotify of tunes you like in tech house or techno, then listen to the radio station Spotify would create from it. You’ll pick up new stuff you didn’t hear…based on what you liked.

    All good advice.

    I do have a differing opinion on the idea of skipping record pools altogether. I’ve found they can offer a different selection of music and a different way of finding tracks other than the usual download portals.

    They’re no replacement for crate-digging (or the digital equivalent) but if you find one you like (and don’t mind paying for) they can be useful.

    I’ve tried a few and ZipDJ has a good selection of Tech house and Techno. Just an option!
