Bout of them are around 2 years old now but are really good controllers for Traktor. But since they were released Traktor has got lots of new futures added. you could also be looking at Mumark 4Track or the controller of all controllers Pioneer DDJ SX. Also the Vestax VCI400 is a verry good controller with lots of options.

most favourable Traktor controller would be Kontrol S4 and VCI-400, DDJ-T1 is just overpriced with its features compare to the Kontrol s4 and vci-400 moreover buyer’s responds are not that good compare to them. But if u would like to try other software, i would recommend you to take a look at DDJ-SX and numark NS6 they runs with Serato Dj and Serato ITCH, but u can still map it to traktor pro 2 if u still prefer traktor pro 2. among there 4, only S4 is not a standalone mixer which means it cannot run without Tracktor ON. Kontrol s4 with case and VCi 400 with case will only cost you around $850

    thx for your tips 🙂
i think, because I’ll stay with traktor i have to choose between vci 400 and the s4

+1 for the S2….you could always get a mapping for it to turn it into a 4 deck controller…

I had a similar decision to you, and ended up going with the s2, and love it. Ended up with an s2 and f1 as I can use 2 decks and a remix deck then. (Still not quite using the F1 as much as I would like, but I’m getting there).

Had a 4 deck controller for a month (reloop dj3) and found that I barely ever used 4 track decks. Although being able to play a house party with my friend, both just plugged into the external decks and both djing off iPhones was cool.

The s2 in also newer than the s4, so should not get outdated as soon, therefore retain it’s value if you come to sell.

Ess Jay: u said u had a reloop…how is the terminal mix 4? because its price is very good.

another vote for s2 here, can always expand with F1 later. If u need four track decks then S4. IMO the perfect integration between NI’s own gear and TP can’t be beaten.

I had the reloop jockey 3 which is older but better integrated with traktor. The build quality felt amazing, but I had problems with reloop support, and then got offered well over what I paid for the model, so sold it, but customer support took ages to sort my problems.

Quality machine though, but was overkill for me, and s2 and F1 suit me better. And they look dead sexy and girls love flashing buttons they can “press” (on mute)

havent used them though, I prefer only 2 decks and the remix decks…probably will look into it eventually when I want to change around my work flow.

how’s the map feels like? will it be very complicated using 4 decks with S2? as the knobs are limited and without a filter

Filter knobs are mapped as endless encoders for me, and it is a little annoying, but I got over it

I would imagine there are challenges. Theres generally like one button thats mapped that you can press which quickly switches between decks….definitely got stay pay attention to your filters, eq, the different phrases of the songs being played….what are your intentions? Perhaps usings the remix decks and layering in samples of your favourite tracks could be another option.
