I’m assuming by “dj decks” you mean turntables? That depends on whether you want to incorporate vinyl or just stay digital. If you want digital, a controller wouldn’t be a bad start. I’ve never used it myself, but the Mixtrack Pro seems to be a great, inexpensive starter controller.

I’d say 100% go for a controller. You can pick up a really cheap controller to get you started, or if you know this is something you will definitely want to take seriously, I would advise maybe looking at something more mid range like the NI S2 or Denon MC3000. You may be surprised how quickly you get to understand the basic controllers and maybe regret not getting the more mid range one.

Chris, I have a Vestax Typhoon (pc) to put up for sale, if you want first refusal and are in the UK let me know. Boxed, vgc, manuals and traktor software.

Good choice! This was my first controller as well. You will be fine with this.
