I’ve been involved in music for about 20 years (wince!) – promoting, writing, radio presenting and generally loving all types of music.
I started DJing about 2 years ago – straight into digital. I have amassed a large music collection and was often being called on to provide music for friends parties and events. I got frustrated with just using my iPod, so started preparing mixes in Sony Acid. This was better but completely inflexible, if people didn’t like the music it was impossible to change on the fly. Someone told me about Traktor and that was it!
I now have a regular bar slot, promote my own nights and am dipping my toe in the remixing / mash-up scene too.
it sounds corny but it’s all about the music for me – the fact that I’m starting to earn a bit of beer money from it is a bonus.
I play all sorts of music, house, electro, indie, breaks. I’m useless at pigeon-holing tunes – thy either make me want to dance or they don’t!
I’ve been a big fan of DDJTips for as long as I remember being into DJing, and like to think I’ve grown up with it. I certainly owe a lot to the lessons learned in these pages.
Looking forward to being part of a community with like-minded peeps!
