ParticipantCould you specify what makes Denon better? because I have seen good reviews for the Stanton and it seems to be built/laid out well. Thanks.

ParticipantI have the MC3000. I think you’ll love it, I certainly did. Like Terry_42 said, it’s a tank (You’ll have to be SERIOUSLY mistreating it for it to break)
The mapping for traktor is great, 2 decks works straight out the box, but I had to download an aftermarket mapping for 4 deck usage. loads of connectivity, (2 line in with panning between the 2, mic input, all the usual etc.) RCA and 1/4″ jack outs, I love it. I think you’ll be making a mistake in all honesty by going with the stanton.

ParticipantEDIT: Ok, I’ve just looked at the stanton and seen the inputs/outputs are the same as the denon. in that case, the only thing the denon has going for it is the build quality, which is worth it’s weight in gold. you’ll be able to sell it on for more too because the denon brand is quite desirable, because their controllers are built like none other.
Definitely worth it for the denon!August 24, 2014 at 5:18 am #2050198Daniel Roitburt
ParticipantOk, thanks, one thing I noted with the MC3000 is that it doesn’t seem to have kill switches, is that the case?

KeymasterThe Stanton DJC.4 is just an OEM generic chinese controller. The build quality is sketchy at best (from the units I saw).
The MC3000 has Denon build quality, which is unsurpassed in the industry.
You always have to weight in if you want build quality and reliability or features that you may or may not use eventually.
If you want loads and loads of features for low prices you might have to go Behringer, I would strongly advise against it.August 25, 2014 at 4:04 pm #2050247DJ Vintage
ModeratorKill switches … those were hot when putting in three-channel EQs was too expensive. There is nothing you can do with a kill switches you can’t do with fast turn of the EQ button (provided the EQ settings in your DJ software or controller in external mixer mode support full kill).
The Denon’s don’t have kill switches, which is true for the vast majority of other brand controllers (including all Pioneers).
Unless you have a serious (workflow) reason for using kill switches rather than EQ knobs, I’d say it shouldn’t be a deal breaker.
And as stated, there is not so good build quality, there is decent build quality, there is good build quality and then there is DENON build quality.

ParticipantOk, thanks for the help guys, I’m going with the Denon. One more question is what are good headphones for a DJ that are noise-canceling and mid-range priced because I’d like it to be not too expensive. Thanks.
August 26, 2014 at 9:11 am #2050274Terry_42
KeymasterNo DJ uses active noise canceling, as it gets in the way in a very loud club when you need to hear 2 things.
However DJs love good isolating headphone (you could say passive noise reduction) headphones.Good headphones I use(d):
Cheap:
Sennheiser HD-201 (about 20 bucks)Mid range:
Zomo HD-1200 (about 70 bucks)
reloop RHP-20 (about 120 bucks)High End:
Sennheiser HD-25 II (about 200 bucks)
Beats Mixr (about 200 bucks)August 26, 2014 at 7:48 pm #2050326Daniel Roitburt
ParticipantIs there a significant difference between Sennheiser HD-201, Zomo HD-1200, and Reloop RHP-20?

KeymasterYes price, fit and sound quality. There are no miracles in sound, the more you pay the better the gear.

ParticipantThe v-moda crossfade lp and m100 might also be up for consideration
August 27, 2014 at 10:23 pm #2050467Terry_42
KeymasterWhile looking good I agree that the V-moda are OK, but I found them to be too bass heavy for me and the fit was a bit flimsy on my smallish ears.
But so many things are personal preference. Like many say the Beats Mixr are too tight for them, I love them because of that tight fit…. so personal choice is always a factor.August 27, 2014 at 10:26 pm #2050468dannyboyex@gmail.com
ParticipantYeah I have a bigger head/sometimes wear glasses so the more space the better
August 28, 2014 at 7:31 pm #2050528Terry_42
KeymasterYeah then the V-Moda are definitely a better fit for you. The Beats would probably hurt your head.
