I would not bet on it. Most highend Condensers like the Rode need a lot of phantom power from the mixer… I have a second mixer for that, which I route my controller through and into the PA. A phantom power adapter however will also do the trick. Even if the Denon would support phantom power (which I think it doesn’t) I would not use it with a Rode, as if it gets slightly to few current, the sound will suffer immensely.

    Cheers for the reply mate.

Really up sh1t creek now as I’ve ordered the Rode as it was highly recommended from other radio bods and I need that great sound a condenser mic gives for V/O work. I ordered a Skytronic phantom adapter last night hoping it would do the trick but you still seem to think it will be a problem?

Denon forum told me the unit wouldn’t power a phantom mic but didn’t reply about whether the adapter would do the trick.

    Thanks again Terry.

No problem. The rode is an excellent mic, perfect for radio.

You have got me thinking now…….Just out of curiosity, I still have my old Denon X-500 mixer not being used now I upgraded to the MC6000, so do you think I should try and hook that up and route through like you do, or just go with the adapter?

After all the years I’ve been in this business……I am still shockingly bad when it comes to the technical stuff! 😉

Well it is one more thing that can fail in the chain. I only do it, bc I use several mics when I am mobile sometimes and additional sound equipment that I need the mixer for. If you have no need for that the phantom adapter will do.

Lovely stuff, I’ll just stick to the adapter.

    Cheers again mate.

The X500 doesn’t have phantom power either, so no, that won’t work. Phantom power is pretty much unheard of on dj mixers.
