I’m a Denon fan personally, but that deal on the S2 with software is just bananas. It really can’t be beat right now…

I love the quality of denon and own the mc6000 (which I love and wouldn’t swap for another). However, I would buy the s2 at that price. You get a great controller with everything you will need and a full version of traktor (will cost extra with denon). Look at the blog for phil’s review which will tell you everything you need to know about s2. Pay for the dj tips dj course to fast track your learning. Buying the s2 will help decide if djing is for you and if not you have spent half the cash. Kev

The Denon MC 6000 and 3000 are both extremely well built professional units. I’ve been lucky enough to get to trial both and have to say I was really impressed. The advantage of the S2 though is that being made by the same manufacturer the integration with the software is excellent and the fact that it comes with the full version for $360 it’s an awesome deal. Just like Kj wills said you can use the money left over to spend on the “How to DDJ fast course” , Mixed in Key and buy music !

I have seen the course and highly recommend it, lots of great advice in it and well worth the money.

I’m thinking about it, I might buy it. I just ordered the s2, hope I can use it, some people say Traktor is hard to learn

For that price you can’t go wrong, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

As for Traktor being hard to learn, like anything it takes a bit of getting used to and you
also have to devote some time to it. I would suggest that whilst you’re waiting for your S2 to arrive
download the free trial version of Traktor and start to familiarise yourself with it.

Yeah I own an s2 and I’m sure you’re making a good choice. For $360, however? The lowest i’ve seen it is for 400. is it used? or do they charge you 40 for shipping and taxes?

It is brand new, no taxes or shipping. full USA warranty It was $360. I know it’s a great price. And I think they have more at this price. So you have the S2, How is the sound?

Well out of these two the MC3000 is the better one. It has a metal chassies not plastic and better components.
The MC3000 also has the ability to connect two other soundsources (an i Pad CD player ….)

    http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/11/dj-controller-clinic-traktor-kontrol-s2-vs-denon-dj-mc3000/

The S2 is very tight to Traktor wich is good if you are to run Traktor but bad if you considder using any other software.
MC3000 is good for any software that could be bought.

As for sound I have not tested booth at the same speakers but the MC3000 has the same soundcard as the MC6000 that I own and the soundquality is absolutely top notch (for a controller) on my MC6000.

The only thing is that the pricedifference is rather big and it is up to you to work out if the MC3000 is worth the extra money……

Hessler is right about most things regarding the difference between the S2 and the MC3k.

I know i may get some flack for this but…in all honesty the 2 pieces of software that are used in a professional enviroment is Traktor and Serato, with that said neither controller can be used with Serato. and for the price point…unless you plan on taking your controller to war often (club setting) then the S2 will be fine for you. I gig with my S4 on a regular basis and have never had any issues with it getting damaged or what not. My biggest fear in a club setting is getting drinks spilled on it…and neither controller is waterproof.

As well with the MC3k you will ahve to buy a seperate copy of Traktor Pro 2….the S2 already comes with it
