    First of all:
Touchscreens for DJing are totally bogus. Even VDJ 8 which is somewhat optimised for it, is still not working under the stress of DJing.

For 500 bucks you can get a decent used MacBook pro and it is what most DJs use and for good reason.
For the spare 100 bucks buy a used Mixtrack Pro and you will be A LOT better of than with that Acer thing, which is a consumer grade laptop and will not hold up as good as pro Laptops or Macs.

I’m not as experienced as a lot of guys on here but my feeling is that you could DJ on that laptop but if you are going to be regularly playing out, don’t expect it to last too long. My consumer level machine had to be replaced within 18 months.

Whilst not a Mac user I’d agree with Terry_42 that a 2nd hand Pro/Business Laptop or Mac plus a controller would be a better bet. I would not consider trying a touchscreen to DJ live with.

    Good luck

a side note, if its not obvious: I’d get a separate laptop for your DJ+producing needs (not two laptops, I mean) and keep the gaming stuff and the other xxx thing on another one. These things tend to put even the best laptops on their knees very quickly 😀

    Hi Tuomas,

While true, this obvious a big financial burden for many people. The best alternative is to make your laptop dual-boot. This is effectively the same as having two laptops as both installs are totally independent of each other. It’s also legal, you are allowed to use your current windows license for the new install too. Or you can use an old windows 7 version for your DJ box (hint, hint).

It’s not all that difficult to setup, but you might want to find a computer-savvy friend that can help you with creating the clean second boot install. After that it’s just like setting up windows on any computer and you can do that yourself. Get a clean windows version and strip it further down (i.e. uninstall everything you don’t need/want or at least switch it off). Turn off windows services (Google the subject there is plenty of info). No bluetooth or even internet and virusscanners (you can do it while installing the laptop but switch it all off as soon as your done).

Well, plenty has been written on that subject here, so use the search box if you want more info.
