check out the tannoy reveal active studio monitors. 402, 502 and 802. (4 inch, 5 and 8) the small 402 speakers are within budget and are nothing short of amazing for their small size and value for money. 50w per speaker on the 402’s going up in size and budget they just get better, more bass and more power. to blow the roof off the house and kill all small animals within the vicinity of them then the 802’s are the ak47 of budget monitors. absolute monsters they are. total clarity of the music at volume levels that are just plain gobsmacking. it’s to be hoped your neighbours like the same kind of music you do cos they will be listening to it as well. no sub is required if you do go for the 8’s. i have owned the 402’s and have the 8’s at the moment. they also can be used as a speaker for your computer, tablet or phone as they have an aux port, a feature not commonly found on monitors. http://www.tannoystudio.com/products/

    Try the M-Audio BX5 D2 (around $250 USD/pair), JBL Control 1s (around $199 USD/pair), or Samson Resolv SE5 ($175-300 USD/pair).

I’m using h Yorkville YSM5’s. If you’re just playing in the bedroom they will do a really nice job. They’re clear and can crank up to

I like the Yorkville YSM 5’s. Nice compact and clear studio monitors. XLR and 1/4″ bijack input. They run about $175.00 USD each. Bottom line is what your ears tell you. Everyone has their own preference. Hope that helps.
