Layer your songs…instead of just mixing song A with Song B…have songs C and D gonig as well.

For example…Have song A playing…32 beats before the breakdown add song B…when breakdown hits the drums snare and synths of song B will be layered with song A. Play with your highs and lows and maybe do a filter sweep and cut out the Bass of Song B when the the drop of song A hits, now u have 2 tracks going…song A has mid high and lows all around 12oclock give or take (proper eqing) while the mids and highs of song B are mixed with Song A (use your ears, if it sounds like shit well it probably does to the crowd as well) When Song B goes into a breakdown add in song C and slowly transition out of song A. rinse and repeat.
I often do this when im doing a banging club gig as you dont really want long winded breakdowns as its an easy way to clear the dancefloor lol.

Keep stuff interesting…worst thing you can do in imo is standing there doing nothing and watching the crowd waiting for the song to end so you can play your next one.
