MemberFrom what I gather the Crane Stand is great if you have it off to the side but the main issue is that if you slide it under your mixer or CDJ, then you get annoying side to side wobble. To fix this problem they brought out the Centre Stage for the “bargain” price of $75 !

A German company called Sefour seemed to have addressed the issue and at a cheaper price.

ParticipantSefours stand doesnt fold flat and the crane stands leg can be used for many other uses than just under a mixer…it can be used under TTs, cds, and used in the “Z” configuration.

MemberYes I realise all that, but the point I was making is that if you are sliding it under the mixer or a CDJ (as a lot of people do) then you will get the wobble, hence why they brought out the centre stage as it says in the video. Which is made by the Crane people themselves who have acknowledged that it can be an issue.

correct the Centerstage was made after the release of the Crane stand and is in limited supplies, do realize however that you there are other ways of placing crane for proper use

ParticipantI’m still on the fence about what I want for a laptop stand – I just know I need something to get it off the counter. I tried the UberStand but found it to be too high and I just plain hated the Odyssey stands. Does anybody use their Crane Stand in the “Z” position and fairly low? If so, do you find it to still be stable? Ultimately, I’d like something I can put directly behind my controller that keeps the laptop hovering over the cables, but that still has some options for when I’m working in a weird space. And it helps if it folds down into a wee little package for transport too…
That’s not asking too much, eh? 🙂February 23, 2012 at 6:58 am #15461Gilman
ParticipantDoes Crane Stand Pro also need Center Stage to slide it under the mixer?

Participant**Disregard the below post** Eros and I were referencing 2 different things
————————————————————————————————-
Just to clarify. There is NO wobble when sliding it directly under a mixer,CDJ or any other piece of equipment. What I think you meant to say is this is an alternative to the Crane Stand for people who have their setup in a coffin (with the lid stacked) and are trying to shim the bottom of the crane stand between the two.

Vinny are you sure about the wobble ? I thought that was the whole reason that they brought the centre stage out (as it shows in the video I put up on the previous page)

ParticipantOkay I just watched the video and now I understand what you are referencing as “wobble”
Is the “center stage” sold as a completely differnt stand or just a replacement part for the base?

When I last checked it was sold as just a replacement part on its own for $75, which when added to the original cost of the stand makes it a lot more expensive than other stands out there, granted I do like the quality and practicality of the Crane.
I tried to check their website today to see if things had changed but for some reason it kept going through to some dodgy Russian page !!?? I just feel that since Crane themselves have acknowledged the issue, the centre stage could have been priced a bit better.

@Alberto I think you may be missing the point. The video on the last page was made by the Crane people…it is from their website. The “wobble” that I’m referring to is of the mixer or the CDJ that you slide the Crane under not the stand itself. To overcome this problem they brought out the Centre Stage. If you watch the video you will understand what I mean.
