I’ve been thinking about DVS a lot, and I’m leaning toward the setting up my tent in the camp mentioned above, at least to some extent. I love records, I was actually listening to some just this afternoon in the “studio”… I have it on my list to pick up at least one GOOD turntable, such as Audio-Technica 1240 or the Reloop RP-7000. I’m not sure how much I’d ever use them outside of my house, but for heritage/nostalgia purposes, I fully intend to learn to use vinyl, beatmatch on records, etc. I think the route for me with DVS is a pair of media players such as Denon SC2900/3900 though. No needles to bounce or skip around, still able to play “analog” sources, albeit digital ones…HAHA…
I’m going to keep playing around with my Terminal Mix 8 as I really love it, but I’m also toying with the idea of doing without the performance pads, and getting the MC6000Mk2 as my next upgrade, I could always use a Neon if I needed the pads, 8 cues, etc. The 19″ rack mount format is a part of the reasoning. Vintage, do you have any pics of the type of rack setup you used with the Denon? I’m wondering if there is a rack that would allow me to mount a DMX lighting controller like the Obey40 and the Denon controller both on the top of the rack, while having a Fuhrman Power Conditioner, EQ’s and such in the vertical part of the rack. Any input on that from 19″ rack mount users?
If I decide I can’t go without the pads, I’m looking at the SX2 and any other similar options that come out in the next year or so. That’s the timeframe in which I expect to be ready to seriously look into buying my next upgrade. Lots can happen in a year, as the last year or so proves…. Best of luck to the OP, keep us posted….
