Dear Terry and Aaron, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it and it’s quite useful.
I used to use vinyl for years and of course it’s a different by many aspects, but it was always because of the music primarily. So I will stop here, otherwise I’ll go into that never ending vinyl/digital debate, which I find quite ridiculous.
I am quite old school DJ, but accepting technology is part of that as well, so I actually began to use controller as soon as it came out as natural choice. I find it more comfortable to make crates apart from using CDs, which was a quick phase. On the other hand I don’t like to be a technology slave and change gear every now and then. I want stable machine which I can use for a long time…like 1210’s, which would never let me down (maybe that’s impossible but you know what I mean).
So It doesn’t have to be anything fancy for that sake, just excellent gear and VCI380 and 400 look like that. Pioneer comptrollers look nice, but I have a feeling that it’s just buying a popular brand and I don’t feel like I would buy and get anything special comparing to competitors choices. The only thing which I find a bit exciting is getting a controller which would have computer inside with displays in front, so that you don’t have to use laptop. I find it natural progression, and all the companies knew that from the early start of doing this, but for various reasons they choose not to offer it yet ( I know there are couple of models).
While I writing this, there is one more question to ask. In your experience, when playing in a club, do you honestly notice the difference between 320 MP3, FLAC or Wav files?
