Go with the controllers route, if you never owned or bought one, the thrill and joy to research and pick one its an experience on its own

Check out DJ Controllers: The Ultimate Buyers Guide 2014 | Digital DJ Tips (<cite class=”vurls”>www.<b>digitaldjtips</b>.com/dj-<b>controller</b>s-<b>guide</b>-<b>2014)</b></cite>

With the CDJ route, not only you need TWO CDJ’s, you still need to BUY the mixer also, thats just a lot of dolla you be spending compared to the controllers route

If you want CDJs to do at least comparable things to any 200 bucks controller with a Pro Software (Serato, Cross, Traktor, VDJ) then you need AT LEAST CDJ 2000 Nexus and a DJM 2000 Nexus. And if you like 4-channel mixing you will need 4x CDJ 2000 Nexus (or a 400 bucks controller).

Any highend controller will still be able to do more than that Nexus Setup at a lower price point.

Enter the NS7 II and you even have spinning platters (while still saving weight and considering the high weight of the NS7 II that says A LOT).

    So the decision is yours…

And, see the release note on the blog today, you can now get a Pioneer DDJ-SZ that might fit your bill.

I wouldn’t go for 800s though. They were never my favorites, but lack a lot of functionality that the 900s (and of course 2000s) offer.

I agree with the other replies that if you had no experience playing on CDJs before, this would be the time to try digital. With the aforementioned new Pioneer controller you get pretty close to the CDJ experience as well.

    Greetinx.
