I didnt have many other controllers; had a mixtrack/DJIO setup for about 3 days, went into my local Best Buy, and they had the DJC.4 on clearance for $230 (they are closing the Musical Instrument section). It got good reviews on here, and this was on the Stanton website:

    • 4 channel (Dual-Stereo) 16bit/48kHz audio interface allowing comprehensive connection to your sound system
    • Included Virtual DJ LE software allows for 4-deck control, video mixing, effects, with plug and play functionality
    • 2 or 4 channel control with deck shift functionality and browser loading, giving direct access to the controls you need fast
    • Long-life replaceable Cross fader with hardware fader curve knob allowing your custom cutting preference to be dialed in
    • Rugged metal chassis, designed to withstand years of use in the most rigorous environments
    • 95 assignable MIDI controllers (63 buttons, 5 faders, 12 push encoders, 22 control dials, 2 touch-sensitive jog wheels) & shift function

Seemed perfect to start again on..but I only know about this one and the mixtrack 🙂

Alright, it seems that after some more research, and according to the answers, the Denon MC3000 is the most obvious choice right now. But one last question, if I may.

Between the Denon MC3000 and the Numark N4, which would be the better deal according to my criteria? They’re both the same price afterall, and comparing both reviews, i’m not sure if it’s worth sacrificing superior build quality for more features.

Really the only person that can make that decision is you. When I went to get my first controller and ended up with the MC6000 I had a list (before ever looking at specific hardware) of the features I felt I absolutely needed, what I would love to have and what I could easily do without. Then I started looking at the hardware and pretty much ended up with the Denon. Being a very long time Denon user, I knew in advance that I’d get technologically solid gear built like a tank and built to last.

    And I wasn’t disappointed.

My advice to you would be to take both the MC3000 and N4 feature lists and then look at what one has that the other doesn’t. Then judge which of the features you really don’t want to be without and presto!

Good luck with your choice and greetinx,
    C.

Terminal MIX in your case the 2 and in your price range, you can try Serato, Traktor and VDJ and choose your best match.

I ended up placing an order for the Denon MC3000 in the end. Thank you all for the help!

So, it seems the controller arrived about a week later.

Setting it up with VDJ wasn’t difficult at all and everything worked really smoothly, the controller is great fun to use and everything works as it should to suit my needs. Definetely very worth it so far!

Just had a few slight problems with the config to get the headphones working correctly but managed to solve it. My master gains also seem to be unresponsive at times in the software and I have to twist them around, but I assume that’s a software problem that i’ll fix over the time.

I can’t comment on the integration with VDJ. The MC-series comes with Traktor LE here and I have always used Traktor with my MC6000. Never had any of the problems you sketch though.

Glad to hear you like the controller though L:-).

    C
