    if u shall dj with their gear, then u may switch to rekordbox as it offers tight integration and advanced music management features. as u said, u’ll be able to turn up to a gig with just a flash drive and ur headphones. just my opinion 🙂

    If you just using for the basic stuff that you mentioned yeah Rekordbox can handle that, plus the convenient level you described it just to bring the usb pens, then sure do the Rekordbox, the learning curves its not all that curvy anyway,

    This is where you might get into trouble. With Rekordbox you want to make sure you don’t take more music than necessary (rule of thumb is about twice the amount of music you could fit into your gig), have it all easily findable (preferably in playlists). Even on CDJ2000s, the one knob, relatively small screen searching feature is not something I enjoy when using CDJs.

    Frankly, if I go to a gig where I need to use their gear, I will still bring my macbook and hook up the CDJs and use them in HID mode (Mixvibes Cross in my case). It gives me all the pleasures of the laptop (like keyboard and 15″ screen) and the full functionality of the CDJs.

    Thanks guys, how good is the search function on the CDJ? I’ve not had the pleasure of fully checking out all of the features of the decks – wish there was like a virtual CDJ so I could “test” what button does what etc. also can you sort your playlists by say genre, year etc? Also is it possible to use the needle search while a track I playing? Obviously not the track thats actually playing, the one in cue? And finally can I turn off the artwork so I get a better visual of the tracks? Loads of questions haha

    It is as good as it gets using a thump dial to put in letters… downgrading to Rekordbox from Traktor is a mistake.
