Keep in mind the following was discovered with just a 5 min google search. But on a lot of the forum posts on other sites and what I’ve seen posted around with said search all say the same thing. Which is the only way to transfer it over to the PC as they’re built today is to re-record it into Audacity or something to that effect using the audio out into a Microphone or Audio in port using any 3.5mm (Or 1/8th) to 3.5mm cable. Some people said to use a DAC or High quality USB sound card, but I can’t comment either way.

Sorry I can’t be more help!

    P.S. Hello & Welcome!

Depends on your minidisc player. I have an “old” portable soundcard that has optical in. So one optical out from MD to optical in on the soundcard and you “should” be able to draw a full digital copy (like you would from a CD).

Thanks for the replies and the Welcomes! FYI, I only have a portable unit, the Sharp MS-705 MK that seems to only have Optical in only. I guess it’s gonna take me a long….time to transfer (with loss) to my PC.

You can always consider an online service. I know there are conversion companies. You send in your MDs and get them back with a USB stick with WAV files, or CDs or DVDs or whatever.
