It depends I have a numark omni control so same manufacture…. If I have a source running through my mic input and turn off my laptop by the button so theoretically a “crash” I still get sound running through it once the power cable is plugged into my laptop which in a clubbing situation is pretty likely :), but wouldnt recommend it at all since mic pre amps + music = terrible quality

ParticipantHi guys and gals
First of all I havn’t used my mixtrack pro yet.
So I don’t know how to set it up? But I was told
I would need a mixer with it, so I’m waiting for
That to arrive.
If I plugged the iPhone/iPod into the mixer I would
Would I need a sound card?Cheers

Membermixtrack pro contains a sound card but with only OUTPUTS, if you want to run a ipod through this setup you need an external mixing device with INPUTS, you dont need a mixer to use the mixtrack pro you can just use an RCA type plug to plug into whatever speakers/soundsystem/amp/mixer/stereo you have and play that way…

MemberThe Mixtrack pro is can be treated like a mixer when it comes to general use, but if the computer crashes the inputs won’t work. You’ll only need a proper hardware mixer if you want to run something else (like an iPod) into the system. Don’t buy one for home use, you won’t really need it. If you’re in a club situation, you will probably have the club’s mixer right there and you can just plug into that. That lineout accessory that Emma linked you to looks pretty good, I’d get one of those if I had an iPod.

Sound card I can use with my mixer? Hello Tony :);
I have just looked up a couple of Sound Cards Recommended for Mixtrack Pro; and there are 2 that I can see (but I don’t know if these are the Best – it just says these are Great for the Mixtrackpro);
The First is Audio 2DJ from Native Instruments;
http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/dj/traktor-audio-2/#/en/?content=1573
And the Second is the DJiO from Numark;
http://www.numark.com/djioI Hope this Helps you in some way 🙂

MemberWoah, woah, wait. You don’t need a sound card. The Mixtrack Pro has one in it. I don’t see any way that a soundcard could help in this situation unless (for some strange reason) you want to use an external mixer for mixing and use the Mixtrack Pro only for the non-mixing functions (which seems a but silly to me).
As I understand it, you want to DJ with the Mixtrack, but you want the iPod available quickly if the computer crashes. If this is the case, then you will not need any external sound cards. If your venue has a mixer, you can use that and all you’ll need is a 3.5 mm to RCA cable (although that line-out adapter that Emma posted earlier looked like it might give a better sound). You just hook your Mixtrack Pro and iPod into two different channels on the venue mixer.

ParticipantThanks Emmaand Benny
Your right Benny I want to be able to run my
iPhone through a mixer if my computer goes down.You say I can connect my iPhone to my mixtrack pro and my mixer,
Won’t my mixtrack need to be powered somehow.Also would it work without connecting to the mixtrack pro with
Emma’s suggested mini connector?Many Thanks

MemberNo no, the iPhone doesn’t connect to the Mixtrack, because if the computer goes down, so does the Mixtrack, and anything connected to it. The only reason you would need an external mixer is to switch between the iPhone and the Mixtrack. You need to connect the Mixtrack as deck A and the iPhone as deck B. Making sense?
It will work fine without the adapter/connector, it’s just that the connector is designed for this sort of thing, whereas the iPhone’s built-in sound output is designed to drive headphones.

MemberI was going to just Get Out Of This Thread as my sole Purpose here is to Help Tony;
And I Don’t Own a Mixtrack Pro; however; Tony asks a Question; I Answer it; I can’t see the Problem;
However; before I go; I would like to Quote ‘mr Stifffy’ in an Earlier Post:mixtrack pro contains a sound card but with only OUTPUTS
So; if Tony Needs a Sound Card ‘With’ Inputs’; it looks like a Sound Card other than the one Built In to the Mixtrack Pro would be Appropriate; however; it is Tony’s Money; and Tony’s Set-Up; He Knows What He Needs; I Don’t

MemberEmma, he doesn’t need a soundcard with inputs, it would be useless, unless said soundcard has a “through” option, in which case it would be acting like a miniature mixer.
