I would still go for the VCI-380 for half the price. It’s a fantastic controller and the platters feel very close to spinning vinyl (once setup correctly).I’ve owned one for 3 years and really appreciate the features it has on a relatively small footprint. It was sad hearing of the demise of the company but as first controller, I don’t you will be disappointed if you get it at a bargain price.

I love my Vestax 380, just be prepared that support will be non-existent. I’d go for the VCI 380 over the VCI 300MK2 mainly for the pads. A plus for you is that Ableton and Serato can share the same card on the controller. Ill Gates is a fan of the VCI 380 for one of those reasons.

Vestax gear is no longer supported. If you buy it, it has an extremely high risk of no repairs, no firmware upgrades.

Some Vestax controllers need firmware upgrades to actually iron out bugs when they came in the box. If you get such a version, there is no place to batch your firmware and actually get the thing working correctly.

And I have read lots of posts on other forums about people having to re-install their laptop and not being able to get the right drivers anymore.

It’s a tricky purchase at best, imho.

I was also looking at the Vestax 380 but I’m not so sure after this thread!

This is a good review of it

There is/was nothing wrong with the Vestax controllers. The risk of something wrong and not being able to get it fixed or getting the right firmware/software for it are what make it a tricky bet.
