I havent really read all of the comments cuz I am lazybones but I am pretty sure that none of them actually mentioned in-ear headphones. And I wanna recommend one: Klipsch s4 or s4i. They cost 45$ or 60euros and imho they are the best in-ear headphones for the price.
Pros: you can use em while djing in club enviroment because they will protect your ears, s4i have volume control on the cable and mic, you can use them as regular mp3 headphones
Cons: the only con I found is that you cant really put them around your neck like djs like to do.

Interesting. I have never enjoyed using in-ears though. For various reasons, but not being able to do the quick on – quick off like you can do with cans is one of the biggest.
I am all for protecting your ears, but I am no big fan of living in a bubble by having both my ears plugged and just mixing on my headphones/in-ears. I use a booth speaker where I can, but only turn it up when I am preparing a track for a mix or mixing it. In between I turn it down.

I agree. While I love in-ears for listening to music while doing sports or even when shopping etc. I really do not like them to DJ. I fiddle with my headphones way too much (both ears, one ear, around neck, squeeze to one ear,…) and I guess the majority of DJs are like that.

[qote=Dj Emazing, post: 41850, member: 9575] SENNHEISER IS A BEAST! I had and still have Sony’s brand for years but then a pair of $90 USD Sennheiser caught my attention(Model “HD 205”). OMG The Music is so clean and crispy, I could believe it, I’m in love with these headphones I brought an extra pair just incase they discontinued the model.

Yep i also have these HD 205’s, awesome headphones, fantastic bass, great ‘cut-off’ from outside noise, unbelievably hard-wearing (had mine for 7 or 8 years, countless gigs, still like brand new). And better yet they’re not up in the super-pro price bracket so might be more affordable for you, good luck!

I got a pair of KOSS DJH 100 headphones from ebay new for around 30-40 USD. Great headphones metal construction and coiled cable. Watch out for headphones with the hinge like the Aerial7 Tank headphones because the non-wired side will eventually fail on you.

With the -of course- noticeable exception of the HD-25IIs. The hinge is solid and the lead is too (and it can be replaced, like every other part).

I wasn’t talking about the HD-25IIs I meant headphones in the style of (see picture). I spent a lot of time looking up affordable headphones recently is why.

Frankly, I have never had a set of cheap headphones that lasted. In the old days I’d actually buy a not too expensive pair and just tear everything off to be left with just one earpad connected to a (coiled) cord. They would last forever, no moving parts and very compact for travel 🙂

Just cut the connecting cable while you are not plugged in and all should be well

I highly recommend the Pioneer HDJ-500, these are one of my favorite headphones and I have a few. Great sound quality, looks good with three colors to choose from, detachable cables (one coiled, one straight) 1/4th adapter and at a great price. They are 89.95 on amazon today, I bought mine at Best Buy for 79. If your watching your wallet, look out for the price, usually one of them are cheaper than the others.

As for the things I don’t like about them, not as durable as my current DJ cans (V-Moda Crossfade LP) and no carrying case. But honestly, the HDJ-500’s are great for any DJ.

Don’t skimp on headphones, a decent set will last you years, cheap ones will break and ruin your ears at the same time. I have a pair of Technics cans that are about 11 years old and still sound awesome. I have had 3 pairs of Sonys that have all broken, this was a while back now so they may have improved the design since.

I had the HD205’s…..the lasted 3 months. The cable failed at the jack plug end. I got them replaced and they went in exactly the same place. DO NOT TOUCH THEM. bad design!
