    An i5 is more than enough. An i3 should be too for that matter, especially if it is a second generation chip. Before you assume it is the processor I’d look at background software on your system…

    I run an i3 (2nd gen) with 4 gig of RAM and have no issues, I’ve even used a Centrino without too many issues.

    I’d check what else is going on. Try a fresh install, then add things bit by bit to see what screws with it.

    or just try a new USB port?
