ParticipantI’d like to head over to that – must check out ticket prices and flights. Phil / Steve / Joey are any of you lads going to be there?

ParticipantWell I’m going to be there all day Saturday, flying in Friday and out Sunday lunchtime unfortunately. although I may make a little bit of the show on Sunday if time allows.
Steve and Phil will certainly be there. They are running a couple of education sections at the show on Saturday and Sunday. See the BPM site http://www.visitbpm.co.uk for more details on that.
Steve along with DJ Angelo are doing a session on Saturday for scratching for controller DJ’s.
Phil is doing one on Sunday for switching to digital DJing.Philip

Participantyep… I’m going to BPM… Don’t know which day yet…
I’ve applied for a chance to get a 30min slot at the “Play @ BPM” stage/booth.
if I get it and its on the saturday, then I’ll go saturday, but otherwise I’ll be going on the Sunday.

ModeratorGot a 2-day gig on saturday and sunday. Prepping on friday and back home very late on sunday. Regular work appointments on monday. So, although it was in the books originally, no dice this time.
Sorry guys. For those who want, I can sign autographs by email if need be!

ParticipantThat’s unfortunate Vintage 🙁 cannot be helped. Will catch you some time in the future. I’m flying in via Brussels on Friday. Why not Amsterdam or direct I don’t know.

ParticipantSo what did everyone make of it? Just got back … plenty of toys to play with & come back with a few ideas on my next set-up.

ParticipantGreat, I have learned a lot and seen a lot and met a lot of folks. Just wish I was able to have stayed a bit longer. I have all sorts of photos and videos and even bought myself a new toy to play with when I get the time. There is just so much going on and so little time to take it all in.

Participantdidnt get a play@BPM slot…
will try again next year.
I think I need to do a demo mix with extras added in to the regular set.I mostly heard house, commercial rnb.
too much of the same music being played.I now know that I can go up to another setup and do a set.
I have Traktor scratch at home, and tried the pioneer CDJ setup at BPM, and was successful.got advice from an ableton expert.
reverb in producing
effects use in a live set.ableton guy agreed with the way Ive got my setup at home routed for using Traktor and going through ableton to add extras to my sets.
didnt buy anything (Except food)

Participantnot enough styles of music being played.
I play uplifting Trance, and dunno if it was a commercial decision not to have Trance on the play@BPM stage?

ParticipantWell I went to the Gatecrasher gig on the Saturday night and what a load of pants that was!
Sorry but Town centre/Larger/Stilettos are not my kind of club – it was very commercial.
I thought Gatecrashers was a more decerning club!
I won’t be back
Although, I will give them this. The ratio of young women to men was about 5:1. The place was full of girls. If your a single dude looking for fun – then maybe GC might have something for you 😉
I’m an old married man who can’t afford a divorce!!Although I’ll be at BPM again next year – that was good. Loved the DMC stall and show 🙂
Does anyone know of any good Clubbing clubs in Birmingham I should have gone to – to listen to more of an underground house/tech house/trance vibe?

ParticipantGood to meet you Parafinn. unfortunately I don’t know Birmingham and it’s club scene.
I didn’t go to gatecrasher, glad I didn’t now. Sorry it was so bad.
September 15, 2014 at 11:33 pm #2058011Robert Murray
Participant& you Phil 🙂
The best part of the night was the curry we had at Jimmy Spice beforehand.
Birmingham sure does know how to make a cracking ruby 😉
