    I used to have a wide plastic tub and I lined it with some gray foam, cut out the shapes of the lights and it worked wonders.
    On the lines of this picture:

    except a big plastic case and big square/round cut-outs.

    Depends on what transport you have as well. If you have a van large enough to hold some serious flightcases, I’d go with those. Set on their side they function well as pedestal for (example) moving heads, we have abused them as stepladders on wheels too. Or as an addition to the DJ booth to stick the light controller or CD cases on.

    But you need to be able to roll it into your van as lighting cases are usually bulky and heavy.
