MemberTop40’s music with an uprising intro (like Shakira’s Waka Waka), a mash-up like Chuckie’s Show Me Fucking Love When The World Is Mine (Chuckie 2008 Party Dub) or an famous melody/acappella (Swedish House Mafia Live at Creamfields 2010 Radio One Essential Mix) on simple beat will please the crowd for sure.

Yes! I’d say anything that the crowd can relate to, but with an electronic twist. For example, a dubstep remix of kid cudi, or a progressive house remix of a coldplay track…that usually pleases people that don’t listen to much edm. classics can come into play, too. daft punk – one more time, or a new remix of an old anthem…i think you get what i’m sayin’

MemberThe better question is “What crowd are you working?”

MemberThere can be many different ways on doing this but depending on what type of crowd you are playing too.. Commercial top 40 pop, hip-hop, underground.. All varies.

Yes; this Question is Directly Related to ‘The Crowd’ you are ‘Attempting To Please’; if it were Possible to get a More Specific Reference to ‘Which Crowd’; there are a Number of Different Answers we could Suggest 🙂

MemberOk <<< My base crowd is mostly culture, reggae, & bahamian crowd. What openings can i use for those, I Dont want it to be a regular opening, you know something that will make them say WOW We are gonna be in for a ride tonight!

MemberSometimes you aint got a choice if your coming on after someone else… then its more of a panic to think of something that can link their last choon to the first of your set if you have pre arranged it… Of course this doesn’t apply to those talented lucky buggers who can play out on the fly!

MemberJust read the last post, you was typing it and hit post as i was typing..
In that case go for a choon like The Grid – Rollercoaster ( Nemesis Mix) Google it… its my not so secret weapon!

I’d go for Welcome to Jamrock, it might be old now, but its big and does what it says on the can 😎

Memberyea sometimes i dont know what to open up with either, lately i usually start off playing pop.BUT, you have to base it of your crowd, which at times the club/bar is empty when you start your set.

ParticipantOpening?
When I play live I usually mix off he last guy’s track. I never really do “openings”.
When I make a mix, I usually start off with a track that doesn’t have a long intro and kicks off into some nice energy.
Do you have any examples of this “opening” you speak of?

D-Jam, I think the situation that TheShard was referring to is like the one seen in some festivals and special club nights where you have a pause between acts or some presentation by the venue which obligates to do an ‘opening’
