I have moved your post to the correct forum. Please pay attention when posting that you post in the right place.

My advice is to get the How To Digital DJ Fast course to get you started on various transitions (and lots of other important stuff you need to learn to become a seroius DJ).

And as far as “best” transition effects is concerned, there is no such thing. This is different for everyone. And everyone will use different settings. This is part of being a DJ, experimenting and finding out what works for you.

Honestly any effect will work with the right technique. There is no “appropriate” effect to use. It all depends on what transition you are trying to pull of and what transition technique you are using.

Best “transition effect” I’ve used is plain ol blending. Not just beatmatching, but using the EQs to further blend sounds as well as good programming to use tunes that meld together well.

In terms of going from drastically different tempos, I usually like to quickly fade through, or use a delay to have it go out while bringing in the new tune, or if I happen to have a good “transition tune” (one that changes from one tempo to another) then I’ll go from there.

Without knowing what VDJ offers, I know echo on 1/2-1/4 is a great way to fade out with some creative EQing and filters. This however varies massively on the genre I think, and that would also change how you mix. Its harder to beatmix rock for an example, whereas it would not necessarily make a lot of sense to do hard and fast cuts in techno mixes. Not all transitions need effects.

If you’re newish to DJing or with your system at least, try just messing around a bit and seeing what works best for you. There are a ton of ways to mix songs together creatively and that’s what makes DJing so much fun 🙂

Nikos there is no set formula.I personally do concern myself with effects that much the mix itself does that.I always recommend to younger DJs to read up on basic music theory especially the rhythm portion. It will give you are better understanding of what you are dealing with and one more thing know your Library.

Everyone loves a good spiral and a high-pass filter!

The best effects compliment the song and vibe though. Decay and reverb are used extensively in house/tech/techno production so exaggerating them on the mixer can be good if not used too liberally and match the pace/vibe.
