I stopped using Traktor with my MC6000mk1 almost two years ago. So no clue where we are with mappings and jogwheel integrations now. I do know that Traktor seems to be “nudging” out non-NI gear from their offering. Again, not sure how it is for formerly officially Traktor certified gear like the MC6000mk1.

When I stopped using Traktor, with Serato not being an option (non-suppurted), I ended up with Mixvibes Cross (2.3 or so at the time). Still using that today. It’s full version (if you don’t need video, scratching or Pioneer HID) is 49 US/EU, which is the cheapest on the market I think. It’s features, imho, are great. So very handy things incorporated and flexible beatgridding (which was important for me).

Obviously the unit was also VDJ supported, so I am guessing you can still use that without issues too, albeit that the price of full VDJ is somewhat higher, so I think you really have to make a conscious decision to go with VDJ. If you are not sure, trying Cross before VDJ makes most sense (from a money point of view).

The MC6000 Mk1 comes with a LE version of VDJ. As a VDJ user I brought that controller on the basis it was the best for the software and have since upgraded to a mk2. As DJ Vintage says you do need to pay for the Pro VDJ but sometimes you can get a 50% discount with a particular controller. Worth an ask on their website. That’s how I got my Pro licence but can’t remember if it was with the Denon or a previous Numark controller.

Thanks for the info! I will look down both routes but mix vibes sounds a nice price for me to mess about with. Desperately need to get some use from my controller after owning for 4 years.

    Have a good weekend

    cheers!

I love my 6000 mk 1. I messed around with VDJ because it came with the unit.. I ended-up choosing Traktor because it and serato are the two real standards. I paid $99 for Traktor from NI. A fair deal. I used to use Serato and was initially upset because of switching. But with time, I got used to it and really like it. I still use Serato for doing control CDs or vinyl… so you could say I use both equally. But with my 6000, only use Traktor. unless I upgrade to Mk II unit.. in that case, I’ll switch back to Serato. I’d stick with Traktor for your Mk1 controller.. It’s stable. Works great. and is an industry standard. I had little issues setting it up.. but you’ll want the real version.. not an introductory version. Same with VDJ. I think there was issues setting-up the audio path and outputs without the paid version. VDJ has a 30 day trial though to try out. Stick with Traktor. Just get the correct drivers / version for your Denon. I believe that it should have come with it.. activate your Tractor via their site etc.. and upgrade to whatever version is newest. Should work like a charm.
