ParticipantWell, you could buy the V-Moda Crossfade LP2s, they are very similar to the M-100s. Only difference is that LP2 doesn’t fold while the M100 does. Phil’s done a review for both of them.

Hope I helped. 🙂

ParticipantI may not be much help to you but from my experience with the beats mixr they are FANTASTIC, i have had them ever since they came out (same pair for probably a year now i think??) and they are awesome! i got them cheap as well from someone who didnt want them anymore, but the flexibility, the sound quality and the way they actually stay on your head thru you dancing to your own beats behind the dj booth is awesome!! I have dance so hard with them in every position on my head and they yet to fly off, unlike some skull candy headphones i have had along with some good pioneer headphones…you wont go wrong with the Mixr headphones i promise!

ParticipantI can backup the Crossfade LPs – I got the LP1 (LP2 just means 2 years warranty, the headphone is the exact same) myself. They are very comfy and lightweight in my opinion while still being solid. The case is also very solid, preventing the headphones from scratches and bumps.
The only problem may be the semi-open can design as it lets loud noises from outside trough pretty easily. Many guys also youse the Sennheiser HD-25 which should basically be indestructible. Also there has to be a reason why they are around for so many years already … 😀

ParticipantI Personally use Sennheiser 25-1 HD, I’ve used them for personal and music(Drums, recording, Djing) and they are just fantastic, I’ve pretty much used them everyday for the past 3 years, and while showing signs of wear, all components replaceable, I’d look into them if i was you for your price range! Just my opinion!

ModeratorSennheiser HD25-IIs have been the staple of every sound engineer (live and studio) and many DJs for many many years. With every component replaceable, it’s a future safe bet. Downside? They don’t look sexy (although you’ll have the instant respect from anybody that knows what you are wearing – as opposed to Mixrs 😀 ). Having said that, the anniversary (25 years!) version with brushed aluminum cups are pretty sexy imho.
Alternatively the new HD6/7/8-series (read the interview over on the blog) are more contemporary and sexy, but also a bit higher in price.
Questions to ask yourself are do you want on- or over-ear, do you want loud or less loud, do you want special things like replaceable parts (pads, cable), do you want swivelled cups and if so on both sides or just one side, do you want straight frequency curve or “DJ-tuned”. Etx.

KeymasterI am currently using the Beats Mixr exclusively.
However you have to have 2 things:
1st Your head has to be comfy with them. The Mixr are definitely a pair of cans that do not fit everyone and some even say they hurt them.2nd You have to like the sound. They are not flat response (like the Sennheiser HD 25 IIs) and do colour the sound in a way that Dr Dre thinks is good for his listening. Which is somewhat bass heavy. However unlike other beats the Mixr do not have a “sound hole” so the whole spectrum is present and very brilliant. I like this as the beats are emphasised and it makes it easy for me to beatmatch in a loud environment without cranking the headphone volume up to a level where it might hurt my ears.
Other good alternatives that I have or have tried:
Nocs: Way better than any V-ModaSennheiser HD 25 II: Workhorse and has user replacable parts all over. A nearly flat response for absolute clarity of sound throughout the spectrum and my #2 choice.
So if you like the Mixr and it fits your head I definitely recommend them.
