NS7 and the V7 would be the first two to come to mind.

Best controller for scratching is of cause a pair of TTs with timecode.
Second best is Denon S3700/X1700 (Spinning 9″ platter)
Third best Pioneer CDJ2000/DJM200 (Not spinning)
Then it is Numark NS6 but it is an ITCH controller (Not spinning and smaller)
After that it is hard to say but Denon has the second best resulotion after NS6 on their joggwheels and they are touch sensitive and you can set the sensetivity in a software that is inside the MC6000 why that is my choice, but there are controllers that has less resulotion and no touch sensetivity but a bit bigger joggs. Therfore it is hard to say wich is best for you. For me the Denon MC6000 joggs are better than for example NI S4 but it is not sertain you feel the same.
You have to try that out for yourself wich is the less bad choice, because nothing beats a spinning platter TT that is 12″
if you scall scratch…..

NS7 /V7 has no support for spinning platter in Traktor.
Other than that it is a7″ platter wich is a little bit small for scratching.
All in all both V7 and NS7 has good quality and are both very good controllers if you do not want Traktor IMO.

VCI-300 is the single best non-motorised small DJ controller for scratching, and the jogs are weighted and tied insanely closely to ITCH. I can’t recommend it highly enough if you want the “vinyl” feel from a unit which at that size has no right to deliver it.

The NS7 caught my eye but I use Traktor, so it wouldn’t work for me, I think im going for the VCI-300, thanks for the help!

Bear in mind VCI-300 is ITCH too.

Is it possible to map the VCI-300 with Traktor?

Yeah I think so, search the Native Instruments forum for specifics.

I agree that the Vestax VCI-300 is very good for scratching, and definitely maintains a vinyl like feel. We have one in the office and it is always popular. When combined with an innofader, which is quick and simple to install, it becomes quite an impressive unit, as this video demonstrates:

Hi Phil

I work at a company called Scratch Pro Audio, we distribute some DJ equipment and software in the UK and Europe, plus do some marketing and creative media work.

Dont forget the Stanton SCS.1d, which has a spinning 10″ platter and much better resolution than timecode, and the EKS Otus, which has a large non-motorized platter.

Anyone knows if I can find a tutorial how to scratch on the jogwheels? I’ve got Numark NS6.
