Prices depend where in the world you are. See http://www.digitaldjtips.com/forum/threads/best-starter-dj-controller.21/ for the discussion on this topic.

Well make sure you check out http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2010/11/dj-midi-controllers-buyers-guide-2011/ – this has most of the contollers avalible today, with Phil’s opinion of each controller, which is usually spot on the money.

If you’re just after 2 decks + mixer layout (which is fine for the House & Trance which you want to mix) I would reccomend the Numark Mixtrack Pro. I own one & it’s fantastic as as beginner/intermediate controller. Cant go wrong with one at all! 🙂

i was looking at that mixtrack pro but i wanted one with more filter / eq options. i like that “filter” knob that is on the traktor pro 2 interface.

You can re-map the controller with VDJ Pro and Traktor Duo & Pro if you want filters.

I’ve mapped mine so I press down on the FX knob, and that toggles the filter.

If you can stand to loose a gain knob, then the M-Audio Xponent might be worth a look, you could re-map the gain to filter if required?

Also the Reloop DJ2 series has a largish gain knob for each deck if you want to re-map that to a filter?

Unforunatly dedicated filter knobs seem to be restricted to higher end controllers.

If you don’t want to scratch or feel that you need jog wheels…the Novation Twitch should be around that price…and should be a pretty bad ass controller.
