    Hi Phil,

When I use Mixtrack Pro, what will be the best budget effects controller?

    Thanks!

IF you are using TP2 the X1 is a great FX controller for it. With the X1 you can do layers and control effects, cue points or Sample Decks…the mappings are endless and can be modified to your liking.

The Mixtrack actually impresses non-dj’s with its looks, and it has MASSIVE jogs compared to most controllers. I’d really reccomend it with the highest regard. It’s fairly well built, sounds fine, looks decent, has a great amount of features, and is practically a WMD when it comes to bang for the buck

I found this really funny because I DJ with my friend, and he uses a Mixtrack Pro, and I have a DN-MC6000. We actually plug his rca’s into the ch1 imput on the denon and use it as four legitamate decks instead of four virtual decks

Just got Air yesterday. I haven’t used Mixtrack pro (best cheap available) so I cannot compare those two, but there are certain limitations. There is no gain knobs in Air, headphone controls are inadequate and It’s really, really small. It kinda feels like Traktor S4, but in child size. There are also some flaws in feel, slider knobs are bit loose, but the slider movement feels pretty good. Buttons, apart from cue & play do not have that satisfying click and they wobble. Those progressive buttons aren’t moving at all, but there’s a led light that shows something happens.

Jog wheels are a bit too easy to push down accidentally, but I usually disable scratch functionality. I’m also having troubles getting them work correctly in Traktor with tsi-file that Hercules had on their homepage. Sometimes I can browse track with jog, sometimes I can’t. It is also somehow connected to other deck, is it playing or not. Weird.

EDIT: There’s a little unboxing video & some size comparison

EDIT2: Traktor 2 seems to fix most problems in jog wheel, but not all.

The only thing to remark on Mixtrack Pro is the weak headphone-amlifier. If you’re playing live on a stage and you are near the PA speakers you have to do some serious “wave surfing” ’cause you can’t hear shit in the headphones 😉

Great controllers but it’s only the Denon thats really “Pro” 😉
I use an external mixer instead. Gets me more input/output options and a better mic preamp, the one in Mc6000 doesnt sound all that great.
