+ 1 on the Mixtrack Pro. Brilliant controller, not just for beginners either.

Mixtrack has no soundcard – Mixtrack Pro comes with on-board sound card

+1 on the mixtrack pro, a lot of people seem to like it. if i wanted a cheap all-in-one then that’s what i would probably go for.

Hi there, this is my first post! wooooooooo!

OK, So I have to agree on the Mixtrack Pro. I have been DJing since the mid 90’s and about 4 years ago switched over to using a Laptop. I got the Total Control first. I loved it but it was tiny. Its Similar in size to the Hercules RMX, I just didn’t like it. I Got the Mixtrack(not pro) and I loved the size. I was using it with an audio2 sound card. I loved it. I got it when it first came out, had no idea about the pro. When the pro came out, i was envious. I wanted it all in one small package. So I recently got the Pro. I also got a flight case for the Traktor S4, which has a laptop stand built into it. A little extra foam and it fits great. So now I have one case that houses everything, quick set up, only 2 cords come out of the case(power and sound) Looks really Pro.

I’m also considering my first budget midi controller, but not only the mixtrack pro, i’m also looking at Reloop Mixage IE, Reloop DJ2 IE (used), and i’m eagerly awaiting the reviews of the Hercules DJ Control AIR…..

I get that everybody is raving about the Mixtrack, but i still think it looks too much like a toy, too plasticy 🙁

you could always go the whole hog and buy a 2nd hand vci-100 if you really don’t want a plasticy controller… the ‘se’ (upgraded firmware and overlay) and arcade versions go for more money – but the vanilla one can be upgraded later anyway if you wanted to

I am loving the mixtrack.. unless you need advance features the mixtrack gets the job done actually 🙂

Mixtrack IE is far more solidly built so if you don’t like the plastic thing, it’s a good choice.

Im guessing he means the mixage ie . I have a mixage and its built like a tank . Surprising when it was only £199 ! Smaller footprint than a mixtrack as well .

One thing i would say is that due to the popularity of the mixtrack , there is a lot more resources for it online ( tutorials , mappings etc.)

If you’re just going to have a bedroom setup – Mixtrack Pro, hands down, it’s spaceous, great jogs and cheap.

But if you want to be able to throw your controller in a bag (and say, bring it to a party or w/e), you might want to consider something like a used Reloop Mixage IE, it’s smaller and more durable, and I’ve found used ones for cheaper than a new Mixtrack Pro, of course, if you don’t have the software, that might be a problem (unlike the Mixtrack Pro which has plug and play with the free Serato DJ Intro).

I recently sold off my Mixtrack Pro (picked up a VCI-100SE to use as portable controller, in addition to my Turntables + Mixer and Kontrol X1), and for a beginner on a budget (or a ‘gateway drug’, if you will) it’s great.

Hello All, Noob here. I have a question. connected with the OP’s. My Technics are currently resting in the loft (and have been for way too long) and I want to get back into mixing. Having had a look around at what’s out there and seen some of Phils and others reviews on YouTube I’m narrowing my choice down to the following:- Numark Mixtrack Pro, Numark iDJ3 or Hercules DJ 4 Set or possibly a secend hand Vestax VCI300. What should I get? And what are the consequences when it comes to packaged software. Once I’ve made my choice, then where do I go for new music (not ITunes please!).
    Thanks.
    Mark

Mixtrack pro feels plastic but it performs great. I use it as backup to my MC-6000 but never needed it yet ;).
