Well the top 4 softwares are all good (Serato, Traktor, VDJ and Cross) however which one is best for your is mostly up to your workflow. I know it is hard for a beginner as you have not developed your workflow yet.
However Serato is very easy to setup and hassle free and hence tends to be more easy for beginners.
If in doubt you cannot go wrong with the Mixtrack Pro, no matter if I or II and Serato Intro. However you will want to upgrade to the full Serato DJ in the near time. Also the Mixtrack Pro models have a good resale value when you want to upgrade.

I started off not long ago with a Mixtrack Pro and as beginner kit goes it ticks the boxes. I’ve used it with VDJ and find it pretty simple to work.

Thanks guys. Would be able to recommend any other controllers other than the mix track pro series? Or is that really the best option.

The only think I would add it’s to get  demo versions of the different softwares and some simple mappings, so you could explore for yourself and decide which software suits your style better. The Mixtrack it’s extremely versatile in this camp, no matter what software you’ll use, it will do it’s job well, a solid controller which will help you learn the basics in a very simple and intuitive way.

What are your thoughts on the Pioneer DDJ-SB?
