Take as many precautions as you feel necessary, and also have http://www.djguard.co.uk/ or something similar.

Thank you very much Dom James..

    I really appreciate your advise…

I wish we had any such insurance plan for India.. We are on our own here sadly. However I have sent an email to the djguard.co.uk customer service to know if they have any such services in India.

However till then I might something of my to protect the equipments, such as plastic wraps, Cover…dont know how I can save my equipment.

As I perform for free(till I am recognised), any damage in my equipment will mean end of my passion to be a DJ…

I have a contract where it says the organizer of the venue is liable for damages to my equipment by guests.
Other than that I always put my MacBook on a stand so at least table spills won’t cause any damage.
Talk to the guy whose responsible for the event. If you rock the crowd for free the least he can do is vouch for your laptop.

I had a high class, well paid event where a drunk lady wanted to pour champagne into my controller because she didn’t like the song I was playing. I could stop her, but in case of any damage I would have held the bar owner responsible.

Thank you very much for your reply, DJ Chris… 🙂

I am happy that the lady could not drop her champagne…. Perhaps she dint even know how worse she could have spoilt your equipments and laptop…God..People can be so crazy sometimes…

In our place we have one more issue…If we are playing in a Bar or Pub for free in the place of a paid DJ….we even get threatening not to perform and our equipment and the event as a whole become risky..what if some spoilsports get in and intentionally try to do some harm…

Anyways, what you said was right..I need to check with the Event Manager..atleast they can do something to save my hard earned equipments and mac.

I am also planning to get something of Decksaver material to Prevent from flying objects from directly hitting my macbook or my DJ Console as people would be dancing going crazy with the tracks and all of a sudden you see a Beer Can or Burning Cigarette come flying to you…

Thank you very much once again…

    God Bless…

One trick is to get a stage for yourself that is to small for people to stand on. But your DJ booth/table close to the edge of the stage. Make sure the stage is high enough.

Thank you DJ Vintage for sharing this idea..

    That’s a good idea infact 🙂

It may however be difficult if there is a fixed stage and we have no scope to rearrange it..yes ofcourse can put some bags of boxes so that the area is blocked… 🙂
