ParticipantGerdB is referencing “online backup methods” in that thread which is great.
There are more “local” alternatives that will help you as well.I personally just have itunes pull all of my music from one folder (no subfolders) that I back up to an external harddrive once a week.
This is simple, but works for me.

ParticipantI still burn data DVDs. I know many say optical media is dead, buI I hold on.
I’m going to take on an endeavor to record all my records into WAV files, and save them on two large hard drives (in duplicate in case one ever fails). I’ll probably also go through my MP3s and store them there as well.

ParticipantI have a macbook for dj’ing and a mac mini for production. I wanted to an easy solution I could setup and not have to think about ever, so I went with an Apple Time Capsule.
It automatically does incremental backups on each of my macs hourly over my wifi network, honestly can’t think of a better simpler solution if you have more than one puter to backup.

KeymasterI Backup my music to iTunes Match (well most of what is in iTunes) and my archives are put on a firewire raid, which I sync via TimeMachine in Mac OS.
This might look like overkill, but as D-Jam I have a large vinyl collection and I already converted most of it to digital… I guess apple hates me now, as iTunes Match only had a 50% success rate and I uploaded like 150gigs onto their servers hehe…. and I never want to go through that process again… to make it perfect it cost me A LOT of time… and I still have like 200 DAT tapes from music productions that should go onto a harddrive… I am doomed…June 26, 2012 at 1:24 pm #1006761Rodders
MemberOn a MacBook Pro, I use Carbon Copy Cloner once a week to do a full bootable system back up to FW drive, plus a weekly backup of my iTunes folder on a separate external hard drive.

ParticipantAmazon Cloud Drive.
$20.00 a year for unlimited song storage.
Data DVDs, external HDDs, wifi back ups are nice, but you really should have your music backed up in the cloud. You’ll thank me later.

Keymaster+1 for iTunes match, love having my whole collection on my iPhone too, especially as I have a relatively small collection (by design).
