Yes, if you have ASIO drivers, you can do something like aggregate sound cards I think. Can’t help you with the specifics as I haven’t done this in forever.

Since the UM2 is a 2+2 card (two inputs for mics/instruments and two outputs = ONE stereo!), it can never be used in a normal DJ manner, which calls for at least 4-channel = TWO stereo output.

While the UM2 has a headphone connection, that is used to monitor your incoming/recording sound or it will parallel the output for track playback from a daw. In most cases this headphone channel can not be addressed directly from DJ software.

With the price of a good DJ soundcard being relatively high, I’d always advise someone that doesn’t have a controller yet (or one without a soundcard) to get a controller with a soundcard and be done with it. Pricewise it shouldn’t be too much of a difference. Clearly we are not talking about 2+2 Behringer or other low end brand 55 euro sound cards here 🙂

On a mac the solution would be to create an Aggregate Device.

However (unless someone can point out to me how), I have never been able to find an equivalent option in Windows – and Traktor will only work with one soundcard at a time..

The only DJ software I know of that lets you use multiple devices is Virtual DJ..

A possible solution might be to use ASIO4ALL (available for free on the internet), which should allow you to do this, but it can be tricky to get working and I never did quite get it working right…

Yeah … ASIO4All is what I ment. And it CAN do the trick. I have had some succes with it in the past combining 8+8 channel pro sound cards with cards for specific purposes.

As soon as the driver presents multiple outputs as belonging to a single device to the DJ Software, any software should let you pick what goes where. This will be either master/cue signal for use with internal mixing or deck to channel for external mixing.

yeah I’ve tried with the asio4all in traktor and I tried with my laptop output and my audio interface at the same time and none sound was coming out from both

Sounds similar to what I managed to get working when I tried to use ASIO4ALL with Ableton..

Try pressing buttons to turn outputs on and off in the ASIO4ALL settings until it worked. My issue was that I was trying to get it working with 2 external + 1 internal soundcard with a total of 10 channels of output and 10 input channels between them.. It was unbelievably complicated..

I never managed it and I am apparently quite good at things like this – good luck 🙂

About Um2… I’d like to get some advice. I work with ableton live 9. Can I use um2 for cueing? One output for stage and other output for earphones with metronome?

    See my earlier reply.
