No…they’re just bring douches by not sharing.

I have no issue putting full tracklists or even sending a DJ a link to where they can buy a tune I played. In the end I know he/she won’t sound like me, and I won’t sound like them.

“Protecting your tunes” only hurts the artists. If a DJ can’t offer anything more than a playlist, then he/she has little to offer.

I agree with D-Jam. I mean, you should probably not ask them when they’re in a transition, but if a DJ doesn’t want to spread the music they play to others then I have to question their motivations.

I’m always happy when someone asks me for a track ID, it means I played a real banger that someone liked so much they want to buy it!

I have people come ask what I’m playing all the time. Sometimes they don’t even ask they just look at Traktor lol. DJ’s or not, I don’t mind people knowing.

I definitely tell people when they ask.

    Same here.
I don’t keep it a secret. If they ask me I tell them. I take it as a compliment if people like the tracks that I play, doesn’t matter whether there other DJ’s or audience. But if DJ’s don’t want to to share there tracks I respect that.
But try not to ask them when they are in the middle of a transitions, like Weaver said.

I have no problem tellin anybody what I played, DJ or not DJ, if by comparison, DJ A playin Song A, and I Play the same Song A, the difference is that I always stand by is, when i do play it it seems I have more connection to that Song A then when the DJ A playin it, the vibe and the atmosphere is just different, the best I can describe it

I try and not “shoulder-surf” as I know that can be annoying, and I won’t bug anyone in the heat of the mix, I know how it is when your trying to find the perfect spot. I’ve even asked some about songs I recognize that is it a remake, after their set is done. As long as I know it’s not me.

The only time I could see this being a problem is if the track hasn’t been released yet and is still on their tracklisting as ID – ID.
