ParticipantI agree with you Emma…but it’s still sad how many female DJs are pushing “hot babe in the booth” over anything.
Maybe in their eyes they figure they would milk things for what they can get, then hopefully marry a trust fund baby and be a “trophy wife”.
I unfortunately think that this won’t change, as we see even the guys now falling into the Music Industry aspect of this. So we’re going to see more men and women seemingly tossing their body image, fashion, and looks into the priorities bin when seeking out to be a “bigger DJ”.

Yes; this is a Great Shame D-Jam; as although I Respect that you Wrote the above Article (and were talking the ‘Truth’); the Fact that DJ’s Need ‘A Face/Image’ as part of their ‘Selling Point’; is Quite Appaling; as not all Men/Women can ‘Look Good’; Make Up Artists can do Great Jobs; but a ‘Make Over’ doesn’t last long; and it is Unfortunate but True that some Men/Women look like they would be More Comfortable in a Cave than Human Society; but this Shouldn’t mean that their ‘Skills’ are Denied to the Public; when Dance Music Exploded in the Late ’80’s it was ‘All About The Sound’; and ‘Looks/Image’ had nothing to do with it; Carl Cox (Lovely Man) would be a Case in Point; ‘Britains Got Talent’ or whatever it is would throw him out on the First Round; as Simon Carrol ‘Attempted’ to do with Susan Boyle; and How Wrong was he (I am Pleased to say :));
But anyway; I digress 🙂 …..July 11, 2011 at 10:32 pm #3614Michael Fuchs
MemberLove the Susan Boyle reference! Hell of a voice! More gorgeous than any physical features, IMO.

ParticipantIn the States, we call this player hating. I agree with pilotmike327. You threaten them. Because of that, they resorted to stereotypes. In their minds, the only thing a female is good for is being a groupie. Heaven forbid one calls herself a DJ. I guarantee some listeners picked up on the same thing you did. Ignore idiots like this and keep doing what you do. 😉

Thank You my Friend :);
This Forum is One place where I ‘Feel Accepted’; although Naturally there are some threads I can’t get involved with as I don’t have the Knowledge or Experience in using the Equipment; but (although I Accept Dubstep is an ‘Aquired Taste’) I have been listening to some of my Dubstep Mixes today; and it has Lifted Me Right Up; and I Feel I could Compete on Most Any Level (in any Genre) 🙂July 22, 2011 at 12:47 pm #4385Da Loopness Monsta
MemberI agree wit Stone Crazy. Dudes like that are scared that a woman might out-do their house guy so they feel they gotta resort to doin/sayin stupid things like that.While over here a dj is a dj weather they got a pair of breast or a pair of balls……feel me?

Last time I read, a drum-n-bass DJ by the name of 187 had both. Still, we feel ya.

MemberFor some Unknown Reason I have been Followed by 2 Female DJ’s today on SoundCloud (First Time So Far);
I Could have ‘Refused’; but I don’t think that is a Fair thing to do to Anybody; but their Mixing was ‘Awful’ 🙁
I follow this man ‘Ellaskins’ who a few of us know about; and last week he had a Female DJ with him called DJ SOS; and I have to say; she was Absolutely Dire; and I Felt Ashamed To Be Female;
I would like to put a Video of her’s up on here so you can Judge For Yourselves; (as all she does is ‘Cut Mixing’ on Every Track – I Don’t Think Anybody Ever Taught Her there are Faders on Mixers); but that would be giving her ‘Exposure’ I don’t think she Deserves; But; it does make me Feel Sick when her Rubbish DJ Skills gets her 137,000 Views on YouTube 🙁You Can Paint Me Me With The Brush called ‘Sour Grapes’ if You Choose; but I Would With Great Pleasure Promote a Goat if it Had Any Talent 🙂
