The currently favoured newbie controllers are:
    – Numark Mixtrack Pro (and Pro II)
    – Reloop Beatmix 2 and 4
    – Pioneer DDJ-SB

The rule of thumb is: If those are too expensive, then save up money until you can get them or you will buy twice.

I’d stay away from the Control Air, if only for the software. All of the controllers Terry mentioned come with a better package, even though it’s not the complete version. Most people using controllers are either on Serato (which is the software that comes with the ones Terry mentioned) or Traktor. Then there’s a smaller portion using Virtual DJ, Cross DJ or Deckadance. Almost none use DJuced, the software that comes with the control air.

Actually the Beatmix 4 still comes with the FULL Serato (according to the Reloop website). And I keep adding the Denon MC2000 to the list 🙂

Disclaimer: DJ Vintage is not unbiased when it comes to Denon gear 😉
I didn’t know about the full Serato still being on, I thought it ended. If I had to start right now, the Beatmix 4 would be my choice. It’s simply the most bang for your buck.

Thanks for the help, I saw a video on the Control air and i have decided defo not to get it. Thinking the Mixtrack pro or BeatMix 2, they are in my budget-range, thanks again 🙂

Those are decent, you’ll get a lot out of them.

    Hi Aaron,

Apart from it being a 4-channel instead of 2-channel, you should seriously consider the BeatMix 4. It’s slightly more expensive … BUT … the full version of Serato is still included for that price. And if you have to buy it seperately (and really, the intro/LE versions are really only simple starter versions and you’ll want the full version really quickly imho) it’s a 125 USD upgrade! In the end the price for a BM2 with full Serato upgrade might end up costing you more than getting the BM4 from the get-go.

Just my two cents and I understand all about budget limitations.
