iTunes, drag and drop. I do this for all my mixes with Traktor.

I used lots of programs, now I use iTunes. You can setup high bitrate excellent quality conversions with it.

Since I am an avid opponent of iTunes (in my opinion it may just be the most user UNfriendly piece of software ever to come out of Apple), I have gone with dBPowerAmp, not free but it does true multiprocessor batch conversion. On my 6-core PC that means 6 songs get converted simultaneously. Not free, but loads of quality. The free software of choice would be Audacity.

cdex is the fastest and it’s free.

Its a cd ripper but also converts wav to mp3.

I also recommend Audacity, but I also use Goldwave – you can get it from Oldversion.com – it has some useful features like batch processing, filters and effects – it’s shareware and does limit you to so many operations per use of the software, then you have to close it down and open again.

iTunes would be my choice for “free”.

I use dbPowerAMP Music Converter. Bought it long ago and just can’t let go of it.

Try AV Audio Converter, it supports many types of music files
